Nitroethane is used as a synthesis of controlled substances like amphetamines also used as chemical feedstock in clandestine labs. The overdose for rats is stated at 1100 mg/kg. There is evidence to support that chemical can cause genetic damage as well as damaging to the nervous system. Contact with the skin causes dermatitis in people. Kids have being known to be poison by drinking nail polish remover. In animals exposure has caused narcosis, edema, liver and kidney damage, pulmonary rales, dyspnea and lacrimation.
