The service was set up by Dr Joanna Clark in 2014 to offer early pregnancy scans to all women, not just those eligible for one on the NHS. In 2015 the service was extended to also offer non-invasive prenatal tests, the state-of-the-art screening test for Down's syndrome. In 2017 a clinic in Bath was opened and a new online booking facility launched. Over the following years we expanded our repertoire of scans offered and recruited more team members, Advanced Practitioner Sonographers Victoria and Bea and Nurse Practitioners Debbie and Angela. Then our Consultant Obstetrician Sarah joined us in 2019. We have Assistants helping in both clinics, at Bath we have Bridget and Gail and in Bridgwater we have Laura and Lisa. In 2020 Gail (also an assistant in Bath) stepped into the role of Practice Manager... I am thankful to be part of the wonderful team here at Somerset Early Scans as I realise just how valuable this service is and am looking forward to being part of it... We are an award..
