Bob Fass

Bob Fass is a professional arts and education administrator who grew up in Claremont and attended Sycamore Elementary School, El Roble Intermediate School, and Claremont High School. He and his wife Kristen have two school-age children. As an active parent and community member, Bob served as President of the Claremont Educational Foundation (CEF) and led the organization through two multi-year strategic plans. He has consulted with Claremont After School Program (CLASP) and Claremont Heritage, and serves on the advisory board of Ophelia's Jump Productions. As a district volunteer, Bob served on the CHS Theatre Renovation Committee, Sycamore School Governance Council, Measure G Oversight Committee, Local Control Accountability Parent Advisory Council, and Sycamore School Equity and Inclusion Committee. He has also served as a panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from California State University, Fullerton, and a Masters in Nonprofit Administration from the University of Alabama.

Jack Young - President

Jack Young grew up in Michigan and attended the University of Michigan - Flint. He began teaching in Del Rio, Texas and received his Master's Degree from Baylor University. He moved to California in 1989, and worked in the Ontario-Montclair School District as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and district office administrator. His administrative credential is from the University of California - Riverside. In 2016 he was elected to the Upland Unified School District Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Baldy View Regional Occupational Program (ROP) Commission. When he lived in Texas he was a volunteer fireman. He has been a long time HAM radio operator and a volunteer for Helping Out Pets Everyday (H.O.P.E). He currently works at the University of La Verne supervising student teachers, and volunteers at Foothill Family Shelter. Jack met his wife, Robyn, while traveling in Germany. Jack and Robyn have one daughter, Heather who graduated from Upland High School. In his spare time he likes to read, exercise, listen to music and perform with the Music Masters, a swing band in Upland.

Sonja Shaw

Sonja Shaw was elected to the Board of Education in November 2022. Born and raised in Chino, Sonja was educated in Chino Valley schools, and graduated from Ayala High School. Sonja is a mom of two Chino Valley students, and lives in Chino with her husband Chris, and two fur family members Jaxx and Kooper. She is owner/operator of two small community businesses: Personal fitness instructor training women to better themselves by taking control of their and fitness; and a professional photography business capturing precious memories. Sonja also holds a California Real Estate License. Additionally, Sonja leads a community-based Bible study. She was motivated to run for school Board to give parents a seat at the education table. Sonja is the 2023 President of the Board of Education, and will represent the District as city of Chino liaison, and representative to the Baldy View Regional Occupational Program Commission.

Sue Ovitt - VP

Sue Ovitt was first elected to the Chaffey JUHSD Board of Trustees in 2008 and has served in all Board positions during her tenure. Sue completed the CSBA Masters in Governance program to better serve students and the district. Following high school, she graduated from Chaffey College and then transferred to the University of Redlands where she earned a BS Degree in Sociology. The ensuing year, she earned a Lifetime Elementary Teaching Credential. An active participant in the community, Sue is President of Baldy View ROP, Chair of OPARC, Board member of West End Family Counseling Services and The Leaven - serving at-risk elementary age children in their living communities with afterschool tutoring and mentoring. She is dedicated to CJUHSD by supporting college and career readiness; equipping classrooms with state-of-the-art technology & teaching strategies; fostering effective relationships with parents, businesses, cities & adjacent school districts; and ensuring that all students are safe. Sue is married to her husband Gary, who taught at Chaffey High School for 35 years. Gary serves on the Chaffey College Governing Board. They have one married daughter, Amanda and one granddaughter. Sue, Gary and Amanda all graduated from Chaffey High School.
