Charlottesville Gastroenterology Associates now Gastro Health was founded in 1982 by Dr. Byrd S. Leavell and Dr. Michael J. Oblinger. Dr. Leavell and Dr. Oblinger are now retired from the practice. Dr. Daniel J. Pambianco joined the practice in 1989, followed by Dr. David H. Balaban in 1997, and Dr. Diego A. Gomez in 2001. Dr. Emily M. Christman and Dr. Arun R. Mannem joined our team in 2016. Dr. Elliot Smith joined the practice in 2018... We are affiliated with Martha Jefferson Hospital, a 175-bed community hospital that was founded in 1903 by seven local physicians interested in providing quality healthcare to the residents of Charlottesville.
