At REAL every member will begin by being assessed in several ways for needs, wants, preferences, and current level of independence. This will be accomplished through interviews, Person Centered Planning tools, and Adaptive behavior assessments. By using the information from these assessments and tools to discover needs and goals, thoughtful plans can be drawn up, creative programs can be developed with the intention of maintaining health and safety, personal growth, increased independence , and most as importantly opportunities to have fun, expand peer groups, goal attainment and an overall sense of belonging to an ever widening community. Learning happens all the time and in all circumstances. At REAL we do not want to control every step of life , and ensure no mistakes are ever made, but instead stay near, let life happen and catch people before the fall hurts.
