Annette Harwood Murphy - CEO, Founder

The founder and CEO, Annette Murphy, collaborated with Hitachi in the early 1980's. Mrs. Murphy went to Japan and flew the CD-ROM drive back to TLC headquarters so the company could deliver MARC records via CD-ROM. That drive is now sitting in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC. Annette Harwood Murphy has guided TLC's strategic planning, fiscal operations, and administration since 1975. TLC creates automation technology for libraries and school districts of all sizes, including some of the busiest libraries in the world. The company serves over 5,000 libraries world-wide with about 200 staff members from its offices in the United States and abroad. Under Mrs. Murphy's leadership, the TLC corporate family has grown to include CARL Corporation (acquired in 2000) and Tech Logic Corporation (majority stockholder share acquired in 2005). In addition, TLC has established strategic partnerships with leading companies throughout the world to offer more products and services - and more choices - to the library community.

Brad Murphy

Brad Murphy began with TLC during the company's early days of development. He has served TLC as a salesperson and has also coordinated library conference details and equipment. Mr. Murphy brings a wealth of TLC experience to his current position, where he oversees TLC's Singapore operations and manages a staff of employees there. In addition to representing TLC to new libraries internationally, Mr. Murphy assists with the use of TLC systems by many of the company's international customers.

Bruce Lofdahl

Bruce guides the IT and implementation teams in the deployment and administration of CARL•Solution applications. Prior to joining TLC in 2006 as a Senior Systems Administrator, Bruce worked in IT in the insurance and financial industries. He enjoys reading and the outdoors..

Calvin Whittington

Calvin Whittington has served as TLC's finance officer since joining the company in 1987 and has been a Director at TLC since 2019. In this position, he oversees budgeting, cost management, general accounting, data processing, inventory control, and purchasing for TLC. With financial oversight for TLC offices in West Virginia, Colorado, and Singapore, plus Tech Logic in Minnesota, Mr. Whittington promotes the financial health of budgets and revenues in the millions. Mr. Whittington holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Shepherd University (WV) and an M.B.A. from Shenandoah University (VA).

Charlie Green

Charlie Green is the Director of Information Technology Department. Joined TLC in August 1989, as night shift Computer Operator. Building PAC database's for customers and drawing maps of the libraries. Through the years he has moved up to Data Center Manager, IT manager to Director of IT. He has an Associate's Degree in Business from the University of Maryland, which he attained while serving in the U.S. Army. He does what ever needs done to keep it all moving.

Ebony Pacheco-Hoos

Ebony grew up in Denver, Colorado and developed a lifelong love for libraries by working in them from a young age. Prior to joining TLC Denver in 2007, Ebony worked with a wide array of CARL products in a variety of positions and departments such as Cataloging & Processing, Circulation and Interlibrary Loan. As Director of Product Management, Ebony guides the work of CARL•Solution and Library•Solution functionality for public libraries and consortia. Personally, she loves spending time with her family and all things Disney World.

Jennifer Watson

As Director of Client Services, Jennifer Watson oversees the Client Services department for both Library•Solution and CARL•Solution, managing the day-to-day operations of the customer support and success teams. She enjoys making connections with customers and helping libraries achieve their goals and objectives. Throughout her career, Ms. Watson has held numerous management and customer-facing positions. Ms. Watson joined TLC in 2008 as a support technician before being promoted to Client Services Manager in 2015 and then to Director of Client Services in 2022. She holds a Master of Business Administration from West Virginia University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Shepherd University. Ms. Watson lives in her hometown of Martinsburg, West Virginia, with her significant other of over 20 years, their youngest daughter, and the family dog.

John Burns - COO, SVP

John Burns joined TLC in October 2000 as a Sales Development Specialist and was quickly promoted to Automation Consultant. He successfully developed underperforming markets early in his career and later was instrumental in validating business concepts leading to the recent success of both CARL•Solution and Library•Solution. Mr. Burns has a Bachelor of Science in Economics degree from West Virginia University, where he minored in Communications.

Justin Duewel-Zahniser - CTO

Justin Duewel-Zahniser first joined TLC in 2003 after earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from West Virginia University. After less than a year as a Software Instructor for Library•Solution, Mr. Duewel-Zahniser was promoted to Product Manager. From there, he spent a little over a decade working on global supply change and reverse supply chain solutions in a technical product management capacity before returning to TLC in 2017 as the Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Duewel-Zahniser is responsible for the IT and Research & Development teams.

Justin Larsen

Justin Larsen joined TLC in March 2004 as Senior Graphic Designer. In his current role as Director of Brand Assets, Mr. Larsen oversees the corporate identity by maintaining and organizing brand standards across the organization. He has also worked on logo design, complicated web site layouts, and various marketing initiatives, He was certified in AutoCAD and drafting, and has an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design. He spends most of his personal time Mountain biking, road cycling, and spending time with his family.

Martin Kasemsan

As Associate Director of Customer Relations, Martin Kasemsan manages the CARL•Solution support teams and actively partners with the Sales and Product teams, bringing the customer voice into crucial discussions. He values the relationships he has built with customers - acting as their advocate and leveraging the capabilities of the products and services they have purchased. Prior to joining TLC in 2016, Mr. Kasemsan served as a relationship manager for a portfolio of varied clients of a national IT Managed Service Provider. In his 13 years in IT, he has also managed help desks and network operations centers in numerous industry verticals. In his downtime, Mr. Kasemsan is an avid cyclist and daydreamer, sharing a house in the suburbs with his wife and 2 children.

Pia Charmaine F. Cornago

Pia Cornago joined TLC in 2007 as Manager of Client Services for READ@Academy, Ministry of Education (Singapore). As Director of Asia Operations, Ms. Cornago manages the implementation of new libraries and services for the Asian market. She updates Asian clients on the latest developments and cost-effective use of TLC's products and services. Her roles also include coordinating system demonstration on new software releases, facilitating solutions for clients' concerns, and conducting transactions for and on behalf of TLC clients in Asia. Ms. Cornago holds a Bachelor of Library and Information Science, a Master's in Library and Information Science, and a Graduate Certificate in Distance Education from the University of the Philippines.

Rhia Stark - CMO

Rhia Stark joined TLC in May 2016 after 6 years in public libraries and 2 years in academic libraries. During her tenure, she has held various roles within the library industry (storytime, STEM programming, shelving, training, and marketing) and at TLC (support, product, sales, marketing). As Director of Marketing, Mrs. Stark oversees content creation and communications, advertising, and proposals - and she loves to bring customer stories to life. Mrs. Stark holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from the University of Colorado Denver and a comprehensive education in Digital Marketing from Denver University. She lives with her husband and cat in southern Colorado, where she spends most of her time reading, drinking coffee, and crocheting.

Sam Brenizer

Sam Brenizer joined TLC in December 2005 as a Product Manager for the school division. In his current role as Director of Product Management, Mr. Brenizer oversees the Headquarters product portfolio and directs the day-to-day operations of the Product Managers. Mr. Brenizer has also served as a Product Owner and a Program Manager. Prior to joining TLC, Mr. Brenizer worked for Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia as a Library Media Technology Specialist, a Library Technology Trainer, a Technology Resource Teacher, and a Math Teacher. Mr. Brenizer holds a Masters of Science in Computers in Education from Shenandoah University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Secondary Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Sherry Banks

Sherry Banks' career at TLC began in May 1990 as a Customer Support Technician. She quickly moved to Support Department Manager. In 1993, Mrs. Banks joined the Circulation Implementation team. In the late 1990s, that team transitioned to the Data Processing Department where she participated in the implementation of hundreds of Library•Solution databases as an implementation specialist, Department Manager (2000), and Project Manager (2013). Mrs. Banks has worked with Product Owners on implementation, support, and improvements to TLC's data service products, including eBiblioFile and RDAExpress. As Director of Operations at Headquarters, she has a customer-focused role and oversees the Project Management and Implementation departments.

Wade Torbenson

In his role, he oversees all aspects of quality assurance including Testing, establishing metrics, applying industry best practices, and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met. He is a Certified Agile Professional in Agile Testing (ICP-TST), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM).
