He holds a BSc in Biochemistry, an MBA, and is also a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP-I).

His prior job roles have included lecturing at the University of Malaya and serving as Medical Director of the Oriental Melaka Straits Medical Hospital in Melaka. Most recently, he has been working with the Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care group as a clinical nephrologist. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology and the Malaysian Society of Nephrology.
