Alfredo Rangel

Alfredo Rangel graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana law school and was admitted to the practice of law in 1984, he later obtained a Master's Degree in Comparative Law in the field of Intellectual Property from George Washington University, and attended in 1997 an intensive course in Industrial Property at the Center for International Studies on Intellectual Property at the Université Robert Shuman, in Strasbourg, France. In 2005 he attended a course and was granted a Specialist Diploma in Intellectual and Industrial Property law by the Universidad Panamericana. He joined Noriega y Escobedo in 1979, has been at the head of the intellectual property area since 1984 and became a partner in 1987. He has represented Mexico as a delegate and lecturer at many international venues and participated in numerous congresses relating to intellectual property in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Colombia, Chile, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Russia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Japan, Portugal, Sweden, Germany and Australia. Alfredo Rangel was the international Vice President of the Mexican group of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property from 1995 to 2003, and Assistant Coordinator and Coordinator of the Intellectual Property Commission of the Mexican Bar from 2001 to 2007. He has been invited as guest lecturer by many Mexican and international organizations such as the National Association of Importers and Exporters of the Mexican Republic (ANIERM), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (IAPIP), the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI), the Inter-American Association of Industrial Property (ASIPI), the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Institute for International Research, the New York State Bar Association-International Law and Practice Section, the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, the Dominican Association of Industrial Property, the Mexican Bar, the Technology Transfer Unit, the International Trade Association (INTA), the Fondo de Cultura Económica (FCE), the Centro de Estudios de Actualización en Derecho, the Mexican Association of Corporate Lawyers (ANADE), the Mexican Institute of Intellectual property, the Japanese Patent Office, the Mexican Institute of Criminal Science, the UNAM's Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas, the Mexican Federal Judiciary Council, the Federal Tribunal of Fiscal and Administrative Justice, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), among others. He is the author numerous papers, articles and book chapters relating to intellectual property published in various domestic and international journals and periodicals and by various publishing houses, such as El Foro, Jurídica, El Economista, The Minessota Bar Association, the Inter-American Association of Industrial Property, the New York State Bar Association, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Clark Boardman Callahan, Sweet & Maxwell - Thompson Reuters; Oceana Publications, Inc. and Thompson West, among others. He has been professor of intellectual property law at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at various prestigious universities in Mexico and at the Intellectual Property and Competition law Institute (IPIDEC).

Luis Monterrubio

Luis Monterrubio graduated from the law school of the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and was admitted to the practice of law in 1989, and completed graduate studies in arbitration and international trade. He joined Noriega y Escobedo in 1987 and has been a partner since 1995. His practice has focused mainly on the areas of economic competition, tax law, civil, commercial and administrative litigation, as well as on alternative dispute resolution. Luis Monterrubio has been a guest lecturer at various universities on topics relating to business management and commercial contracts, among them The University of the Americas and the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). He has also acted as legal counsel in the implementation of the mediation programs of the American Bar Association, and also as counsel to USAID. He was professor of commercial contracts, procedural commercial law, and alternative means for dispute settlement from 1994 to 2000 at several universities, among them the Universidad Iberoamericana, the ITAM and the University of the Americas.

Pablo J. Cervantes

Pablo J. Cervantes graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM, in 1975; in 1976 he obtained a Top Corporate Management Diploma, in 1989 he was granted a Diploma in Finance and in 1990 he attended a course in finance at the Euromoney Institute. He joined Noriega y Escobedo in 1976 focusing his practice mainly on corporate and financial law. He has been a professor on the subject of commercial contracts at the Universidad Iberoamericana.

Sergio Olivar

Sergio Olivar graduated from the Escuela Libre de Derecho and was admitted to the practice of law in 1998. He obtained his Master's Degree in Corporate Law with honors in 2005. He joined Noriega y Escobedo in 2002 and heads the Infrastructure Department. He has designed and put into operation several PPPs, including PPSs and BOTs in different sectors, among which those for highways, toll-roads and aqueducts stand out. He has also structured diverse joint-investment projects for both the tourist resort and housing sectors, in the latter instance by means of comprehensive sustainable urban development projects (DUIS). He has acted as counsel to one of the Mexican development Banks, the Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos S.N.C. (Banobras) and the National Infrastructure Fund Trust, Fondo Nacional de Infraestructura (FNI), providing advice in the design, structuring and negotiation of various financing schemes for the public and private sectors for infrastructure development of the country. His areas of practice include corporate, foreign investment and public international law, and the counseling he has provided to various companies in corporate matters, negotiation of agreements, mergers and acquisition and negotiation with various governmental agencies and entities is prominent. From 1996 to 2002 he held various posts in the public sector, such as Head Counsel of the Liaison Department with the United Nations of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he was in charged of negotiating several international treaties, and is currently a professor of commercial law at the Universidad Panamericana. He has been invited as guest lecturer by several Universities, Associations and Governmental entities in Mexico and the United States. He is currently professor of commercial law at the Universidad Panamericana.
