The Surgical Critical Care Initiative (SC2i) is a Uniformed Services University center that leverages legacy information from service members and critically ill civilian and military patients to develop biomarker-driven clinical decision support tools (CDSTs) for the critically ill with the goal of improving clinical outcomes and reducing costs across the injury/disease cycle... SC2i, a consortium of federal and non-federal research institutions, develops, translates, and validates biology-driven critical care, centered on an individual patient's biology for both short- and long-term outcomes... Established in 2013 and funded by the Department of Defense's Defense Health Agency, we are a collection of seven Federal and non-Federal entities: three DoD-funded entities, two civilian academic institutions and trauma centers, an organization that creates foundational mathematics, and a foundation devoted to military medical research.
