Amanda Dorans

Job Titles:
  • Member of the Club and Course Managers Team
Amanda spent 18 years at GEO Certified Dundonald Links in Ayrshire as a greenkeeper and environmental co-ordinator. She played a pivotal role in the course being certified three times as well as being involved in many other high profile sustainability projects such as the Irvine to Girvan Nectar Network which is supported by The R&A, NatureScot and The FairWays Foundation. Amanda took up a position at another GEO Certified facility - the world-renowned Gleneagles - where she worked closely with the greenkeeping team and others as the Sustainability Coordinator. Amanda is now the Sustainability Manager at Loch Lomond Golf Club.

Björn Nordberg

Björn has represented Sweden and competed at the highest levels of amateur golf. He is EGA Honorary President, Swedish Golf Federation Past President and a European Tour Board Non-Executive Director.

Carole Kerrey

Job Titles:
  • Manager, Certification, Data and Reporting ( for Subsidiary GEO Certification Ltd. )
Carole earned two degrees at the University of Nebraska as well as a Masters of Science degree at the University of Michigan. She has seven years of experience working in Sustainable Certification including maintenance of certification standards, evaluation of assessment processes and procedures and stakeholder engagement and brings the expertise to help further develop and assure GEO Certification Ltd's work and build out GEO Foundation's data and reporting services.

Chris Asensio

Job Titles:
  • Carbon Specialist
Chris is our carbon specialist - scoping, developing and delivering the tools built specifically for clubs, tournaments, associations and players. He also informs the low carbon guidance and action plans we provide to partners and programme participants. Chris has over 20 years' experience in the energy, consultancy and climate action fields, providing energy efficiency, carbon management, sustainability and renewables advice to a wide range of large and small scale clients in the private, public and third sectors.

Colin Wood

Job Titles:
  • Chairman and President of the European Golf Association, Forme
Chair and President of the European Golf Association, former President of the Scottish Golf Union and Chairman of the Scottish Golf Environment Group, Colin captained the European side in the Bonallack Trophy 2002 and 2004.

Gordon Shepherd - Chairman

Job Titles:
  • Chairman
Gordon served in advisory roles for the British government before joining WWF in 1986. Highly regarded on the world stage, he directed WWF's International Environmental Treaties and global policy work between 1990 and 2011.

Guy Stirling

Job Titles:

Guy joined the organization as a graduate in 2019. He has an M.A. in Sustainable Development from the University of Edinburgh. His passion for branding and design shines through in his work whether it's for social media graphics, marketing brochures or updating the sustainable.golf website with fresh content.

Janne Lehto

Janne is the course manager at four-times GEO Certified Hirsala Golf in Finland. His other roles in the industry include Chairman, the Finnish Greenkeepers Association, Consultant for the Finnish Golf Union and a member of the advisory committee sub-groups at STERF. Janne is also a regular contributor to content for awareness days which are marked by GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf online. He was one of the inaugural Sustainable Golf Champions when the initiative launched in January 2020.

Jonathan Smith - Founder

For over two decades, Jonathan has been involved with sustainability in golf, from field support to planning, working for golf and for government. For 15 years he has been bringing a positive vision, progressive strategic direction, an ethos of collaboration and a genuine passion... leading the GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf to be a dynamic, credible, influential and trusted organization, helping usher golf to the forefront of the sustainability movement. Since establishing GEO in 2006, Jonathan dedication has been to serve the environment, communities and golf, leading the organization to become one of the most visionary, dynamic and credible sustainability actors in the world of sport.

Kelli Jerome

Bringing experience from years in product management and strategic relations at Microsoft headquarters during the early years of the digital age, Kelli is now turned toward another important frontier, sustainability and climate action. Overseeing GEO Certification Ltd, and managing the effective and agile implementation of GEO Foundation's work to meet the strategic vision of the foundation and stakeholders around the world.

Mac Jerome

Job Titles:
  • Project Manager, Sustainable Tournaments
Mac is a recent addition to the sustainable tournaments team, following over 5 years' experience working on the supplier side of large-scale golf tournaments and a B.A. Honours degree in Business Management from Edinburgh Napier University. Mac is focused on supporting tournaments to get started and throughout their use of the OnCourse Tournaments program and is excited to help deliver more and more sustainable golf events across the globe.

Moira Fraser

Bringing years of experience in previous administrative roles, Moira oversees the daily business administration of the GEO office as well as providing support for the team and the ever-growing sustainable golf community. She also contributes to our continually improving processes, solutions and services and will be the helpful voice on the phone or email for anyone who gets in touch.

Paul Carter

Paul is a Certified Golf Course Superintendent at The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay in Tennessee. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Golf Couse Superintendents Association of America. Paul has played an active role in many other associations throughout his career including being the Rounds 4 Research Chairman in Tennessee and past president of the Tennessee Turfgrass Association.

Roddy Williams

Roddy brings a wealth of experience from two decades working in a variety of senior digital, content and communications roles with the European Tour and Ryder Cup during which he oversaw an award-winning digital content team and led the editorial coverage of the last 10 Ryder Cups.

Rony Epelbaum

Job Titles:

Following university, Rony completed internships at a PGA Tour event in La Quinta, California and at the Major League Baseball International offices in Sydney, Australia. Back in California, he continued his involvement in international sport by working at multiple Olympic Games (Rio 2016, PyeongChang 2018, Tokyo 2020). He moved across the pond in 2020 to combine his interest in sport and the natural world by continuing his graduate education in Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews.

Rosie Isaac

Rosie's role at GEO is all things OnCourse. She co-ordinates translation, guidance and the analyzing of data for OnCourse Reports. Her attention to detail and organizational skills help with the running of the programme whilst keeping an eye on how it can develop.

Sam Thomas

Job Titles:
  • Director of Golf Development
Sam is focused on GEO's role in supporting and advocating sustainability in golf development, in both established and emerging markets, working with architects, developers, governments, and tourism bodies. From oversight of the programme for sustainable development and dissemination of best practice and standards, Sam's dedication and focus set a pace at GEO. He is a chartered member of the UK Landscape Institute with an MSc in Golf Course Architecture.

Tyler Annan

Job Titles:

Since graduating with an honours degree in Sustainable Environmental Management, Tyler has worked on major infrastructure projects throughout the UK in a project management role and writing/reviewing EIAs. At GEO, he combines his passions of golf and sustainability to help new golf developments reach their sustainability potential.

William Lambert

Bill worked in the investment industry for almost 30 years, holding executive positions at Martin Currie and Standard Life Investments his remit there being the development of the environmental and sustainable investment capabilities.
