Grant Summers

Grant is a Director who specialises in Tax Investigations. During his career, Grant has successfully negotiated settlements for numerous clients facing complex HMRC issues. He worked for HMRC at Senior Inspector level in the Fraud Investigation Service, prior to joining the accountancy sector. Outside of work, Grant is an elected member of Kettleshulme Parish Council and in his spare time he enjoys field sports and gardening.

Jacqui Fleming - Founder

Jacqui was employed by the Inland Revenue (now HMRC) for 17 years. Her final position before leaving in 2001 was Inspector of Taxes on the Prosecution Group, specifically dealing with ‘heavyweight' criminal tax investigations. Jacqui then worked for BDO, and RSM, before founding inTAX in 2013.

Managing Director Jeremy Johnson specialises in tax investigations. Jeremy advises owner-managed businesses and sole traders with tax disputes and disclosures, dealing with technical tax issues for clients.

Joe McDermott

Based in London, Joe is a Director who specialises in tax disputes. Prior to joining inTAX, he worked for HMRC as an investigator in the Fraud Investigation Service. Joe specialises in helping clients to resolve tax disputes and guiding them through HMRC investigations, enquiries and disclosures. His clients include individuals, partnerships and owner-managed businesses. Joe is highly experienced in dealing with all types of HMRC enquiry. He helps clients to minimise unnecessary tax, interest and penalties and, in the most severe cases, avoid criminal investigation. He also advises individuals suspected of tax fraud who are being investigated by HMRC under Code of Practice 9 (COP9). As Joe is an ex-HMRC investigator, he has extensive knowledge of its inspection powers, assessing time limits and penalty procedures. Joe is also highly skilled in identifying HMRC's concerns and restricting enquiries to those isolated issues. Joe joined HMRC in 2014 on the tax specialist programme and qualified as a fully trained Inspector of Taxes. Whilst there, he led tax enquiries into individuals and owner-managed businesses as part of the Mid-Size Business Unit and also led COP9 investigations in the Fraud Investigation Service. Joe joined the inTAX team in 2018. Outside of work, Joe is a keen sportsman and enjoys playing a round of golf.

Liam Chalmers

Liam specialises in Tax Dispute Resolution representing clients with HMRC enquiries or disclosures and ensuring that the best resolution is achieved. Prior to joining inTAX Liam was at HMRC for nine years as a Grade 7 Case Lead. In this role he was responsible for leading cross-tax interventions into mid-sized businesses and connected wealthy individuals, performing full enquiries into every aspect of the business activities to test the correctness of the company and individual returns. This often resulted in COP9 enquiries with the Fraud Investigation Service. Before joining inTAX, Liam was part of HMRC's cryptoassets team exploring blockchain technology and its interaction with the UK's tax regime and he continues to specialise in this area.

Paul Sanders

Job Titles:

Paul is a former Senior Inspector of Taxes who worked in HMRC for over 30 years. Whilst at HMRC Paul joined the Fraud Investigation Team in 2012, where he worked cases of suspected fraud under Code of Practice 9 (COP9). Prior to joining inTAX, Paul had a short spell with a Top 10 firm before joining the inTAX team as a Senior Tax Manager in 2020. Paul deals with HMRC enquiries for both individuals and companies, including cases of suspected serious fraud (COP9).
