Brockwell's CEO is Edinburgh-based Alex Lambie, a highly respected business leader with more than 43 years of success working in the energy sector. Alex has held numerous board positions and has been leading the team at Brockwell since early 2016.
In July 2004 Alex led the creation of Caron Energy Limited, subsequently renamed Welsh Power Group, and backed by private equity firm Rutland Partners bought the 363MW coal-fired AES Fifoots Point for £38 million. This heralded the development of an integrated energy business. Until then, AES Fifoots had been in the hands of administrators for two years but had not sold as every potential buyer deduced the plant would never run again. By 2006, however, the then renamed Uskmouth Power Company had been completely turned around and was deemed ‘Best In Class', with efficiency exceeding 34%.
In 2006 Alex led an MBO, backed by Deutsche Bank, to acquire Welsh Power Group for £180 million and to continue the delivery of the integrated energy strategy.
From 2006 to 2009 Welsh Power developed a B2B electricity supply business called Haven Power and a full power plant EPC business (150MW) called Carron Engineering and Construction. He also headed the development and construction of Severn Power, an 850MW CCGT, and the development of two further 850MW CCGTs, namely Wyre Power and Huntspill Power.

CFO for Hargreaves Services Group for more than ten years, Iain helped co-found Brockwell Energy and has also been instrumental in delivering restoration at former mining sites abandoned at the liquidation of previous operators over the last 5 years.
Neil is a technically astute, commercially savvy engineer with significant hands-on experience in delivering projects and solutions.
Neil initially trained as a mechanical engineer at Komatsu rising through the ranks and holding a number of senior technical and commercial positions. Neil was headhunted by Hargreaves Services Plc to head up and set up a new Group wide procurement department to take advantage of the Groups purchasing power and to commercialise certain areas of the company's operations.
Having successfully completed that task, Neil then transferred to Engineering and Industrial Services within Hargreaves as Commercial Director and led their international expansion developing business in Norway, India, Turkey and South Africa.
Neil then took up the post of Technical and Operations Director in Brockwell Energy, a new wholly owned subsidiary of Hargreaves Services, which was formed to monetise the Groups energy opportunities from their extensive land bank of some 18,000 acres of brownfield sites. Hargreaves Services, having decided it did not wish to invest directly into energy assets, set out to sell the division. Together with the other members of the team, Neil was a main factor in managing to raise external equity to buy Brockwell out of Hargreaves Services.
In addition to his core responsibilities, Neil is responsible for the Energy from Waste division of Brockwell and is project director responsible for construction of two 220,000 tonne energy from waste plants in Scotland; Earls Gate and Westfield. Both projects are being constructed utilising project finance from a core banking group where Neil is a central part of the team responsible for raising the debt.
Neil holds a BEng (hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Northumbria University and an MA in Business Management, from Durham University.
Paul Newman - Chief Commercial Officer
Paul helped establish the Energy team within Hargreaves that would become Brockwell and brings commercial acumen and financial structuring expertise around a range of projects. He has provided commercial leadership for the Earls Gate EfW project, particularly around structuring of grid and energy supply arrangements.
Robert joined the Brockwell board in 2019. Having spent over 30 years in senior management in the power sector, and with a legal background, Robert is currently an independent director of the Oil and Gas Authority, the Nuclear Liabilities Fund and Albion Community Power as well as Counsel at GowlingWLG, an international legal firm. He was formerly Chair of SCDI, Smarter Grid Solutions and Deputy Chair of NuGen.
