Robert started playing when he could reach the table, but only in recent years discovered a great passion for the sport. He is BTTA's Treasurer for 2024;.
Only in recent years did he decide to invest time and effort as he discovered a great passion for the sport. Better than that, he discovered lots of like minded people at the BTTA.
You may have met him on Saturday afternoons, welcoming social players at the counter, helping people to enjoy the sport as much as he does.
Robert has been playing weekly fixtures for years and is actively trying to develop his game. Fortunately he realises that, when learning and improving, a few losses may happen on occasion. Now it's just a matter of keeping the losses to a minimum.
Shadi can remember playing table tennis as far back as when he was 8 years old and has fond memories of all the times he spent playing the game. He started taking table tennis more seriously in 2017, training and being coached while living in Norway. What Shadi enjoys most about playing are the moments when he can hold a long and technically sound rally with his opponent. He continues to strive for those moments in every rally that comes his way.
When Shadi moved back to Brisbane in 2020, he wanted to find a club where he could continue playing, training, and competing, which he quickly discovered BTTA offered in abundance. One of the many things he appreciates about being a member here is the community he trains, competes, volunteers, and shares jokes and laughs with - a great group of people who share a common passion, all gathered at a fantastic venue. The excellent coaches at BTTA continue to help Shadi identify key areas of his game that can be improved and constantly present new techniques and strategies for him to adopt.
The club is currently at a vibrant and exciting stage of its development. As a newly elected committee member, Shadi is very glad to be part of all the new developments happening.
