Amanda Harding

Amanda is a young professional with a comprehensive understanding of building commissioning processes. She came to Stephen Turner Inc. after completing her degree in Interior Architecture at Rhode Island School of Design. Her skills in visual and conceptual design, along with her understanding of technology, make her a valuable resource for the company's graphics standards, template creation, and proposal development. Amanda is passionate about high-efficiency building systems and has experience with both the total building commissioning approach (including building envelope, fire alarm systems, and other specialty systems) and technical construction methods. As a project manager, she takes primary responsibility for a project's organization, implementation, and completion to the delight of the client. As a LEED Accredited Professional in Operations & Maintenance, with a strong interest in sustainable practices, she continues to advance her understanding of renewable systems, energy efficient systems, and sustainable building strategies through various accreditation programs, including the Building Commissioning Association (BCxA) Commissioning Provider Certificate Program. In addition to Project Management, Amanda serves as the company's Information Technology Lead where she works to keep the company up to date with technology and software solutions. She is responsible for the inventory and organization of the company's hardware, development, and maintenance of the company website, and she contributes to advancing the company's internal processes.

Daniel Matthews

Daniel's burgeoning background in mechanical engineering facilitates his broad understanding of building systems, especially HVAC systems. His technical literacy and can-do attitude have driven him to expand beyond just mechanical systems, including his recent efforts with Stephen Turner Inc.'s electrical systems specialists. Daniel's belief that the power of commissioning lies in the integration of traditionally siloed disciplines pushes him daily to step across disciplinary boundaries in support of the common goal: high-performance, energy-efficient buildings. Daniel's project focus is on key high-profile projects, including major clients such as The Kraft Group and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as several projects for Brown University, at whose commissioning meetings he has become a regular. Knowledge gained from Daniel's course of study in Mechanical Engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology has proven extremely useful to his work at Stephen Turner Inc., in particular, classes such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermo Fluids, and Dynamics. A Providence native, Daniel has a vested interest in improving the performance of his hometown's built environment. His primary assignments to Brown University projects are therefore of greater than usual importance, giving him additional motivation to support energy-efficient systems and build a better city. Daniel's knowledge and experience in the area of engineering give him a technical edge in the commissioning field and enables him to fill a key niche at Stephen Turner Inc., where he continues to gain exposure to building systems and opportunities to maintain quality system performance.

Dave Sungarian

Dave is a professional engineer with comprehensive experience in commissioning, systems design, and renewable energy systems. He brings eleven years of experience in both new building commissioning & retrocommissiong project models, project management, and energy auditing & analysis to Stephen Turner Inc. Dave's greatest strength is team-based problem-solving. With clients, he emphasizes the importance of input from all commissioning team members, soliciting feedback from each trade and designer before developing a final recommendation. His approach has resulted in the successful commissioning and retrocommissioning of notable buildings, including New York City's 345 Park Avenue, the Claire Tow Theater at Lincoln Center, and the historic Harvard University basketball arena.

Dylan Myers

Job Titles:

Dylan brings over fifteen years of related professional experience to Stephen Turner Inc., including property and structural assessment work, historical environmental assessments, and hazardous material surveys, as well as hands-on construction experience. His experience in the built environment and with environmental and sustainability issues and applications lends unique perspective and effectiveness on client assignments. Dylan's ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate them to broader audiences makes him a strong technical communicator. He has blended those skills with his professional experience and enthusiastic attitude to make significant contributions to the company's work on major projects for Brown University, the City of Cambridge, and MIT, as well as on several fast-paced schools projects.

Gary Hebner

Gary came to Stephen Turner Inc. from Gaskell Associates where he was a Senior Associate in the electrical engineering field for 15 years. He has over forty years experience in electrical and communications wiring beginning in 1971 as an technician in the United States Army. Gary's science background coupled with his extensive experience both in installation and engineering gives him the ability to clearly see all aspects of a project and work productively with the entire team - both internally at Stephen Turner Inc. and with project teams. Gary employs his background to his project work from the conceptual stage through final construction and leads Stephen Turner Inc.'s electrical commissioning department. He has expertise in the design of power, lighting, generators, UPS, fire alarm, telecommunications, and data centers. Gary's capacity for assisting with complex aspects of projects, quality control, and code compliance make him key in various projects at Stephen Turner Inc.

Jayme Allard - COO

Job Titles:
  • Chief Operating Officer
Jayme has intensive experience in the building commissioning industry and has ascended through every role in the firm to become the Chief Operating Officer in 2018. She has managed many of Stephen Turner Inc.'s most critical and successful projects. Having graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in Studio Arts, her visual communication skills afford her unique rapport with clients and project teams. Jayme is an expert in and an advocate for the use of technology in commissioning support systems and is a thought leader in advancing state-of-the-art commissioning practices. Jayme has managed new construction and renovation projects, including projects that have successfully achieved LEED Silver or higher certification. She focuses on multifamily housing and schools projects, many of which incorporate geothermal systems and renewable energy systems. She has led net zero schools commissioning teams for the City of Cambridge. She has developed a Capital Needs Analysis platform to allow school districts, multifamily housing developers, and property managers to develop capital renewal budget forecasts for their buildings and to optimize preventive maintenance. Jayme is a LEED Accredited Professional, a member of the International Facility Management Association, a member of the Building Commissioning Association, and a chaptermember of the US Green Building Council. Jayme presented her findings & experiences in her presentation titled, "Today's Investment Planning for Tomorrow's Technologies - Commissioning for Asset Management" at the 23rd National Conference for Building Commissioning.

Jing Wu

Jing Wu has always been passionate about art and architecture. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, where she attained her Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies and Studio Arts. Her interest in building design led her to pursue a Master's Degree in Interior Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and shaped her work in the adaptive reuse and transformation of building structures. She is able to reimagine existing structures in a way that preserves their history in a modern environment. Jing values design projects that minimize environmental impact; one of various interests she found she shared with Stephen Turner during their collaborative work at RISD. Now, as a Commissioning Agent at Stephen Turner Inc, Jing fosters a similar approach to her commissioning projects with the goal to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Jing manages commissioning projects from initial scope to final deliverables. Her expertise in data visualization techniques, allows her to assist in project functional performance testing, finding and analyzing documentation, and converting the resulting cumulative, quantitative data to into a simplified visual concept for end users. Jing's capacity for creative thinking and problem solving enables her to design and develop new work products such as an interactive systems manual that enhance turnover and maintenance support for clients. Jing positively contributes to the fast-growing company by assisting with streamlining internal procedures and guidelines for employees to work quickly and efficiently on projects. Her project work is focused in the municipal and university sectors. She specializes in retrocommissioning and monitoring-based commissioning. Jing was selected by Stephen Turner Inc. to attend the International Standard Organization (ISO) conference in China in 2014. Her broad world view is an asset for the company as it expands into international markets.

Joe Wagner

At Stephen Turner Inc., Joe gravitates toward large adaptive reuse and retrocommissioning projects, such as South Street Landing and the City of Cambridge's Alice K. Wolf Center, where he can make the greatest impact on the community and the environment. He is heavily involved in functional performance testing across our portfolio, with his familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers proving a similar dialect to the language of controls contractors.

Jonny Burton-Williams

Jonny works as an Analyst on key client assignments including computerized maintenance management systems implementation. A native of New Hampshire, Jonny was recruited to the Stephen Turner Inc. team in the fall of 2017 after an illustrious career in the specialty coffee industry. Years of customer service experience as a general manager for a family-owned New England coffee shop have provided Jonny with a talent for leadership and a passion for working with diverse groups of people. Jonny's journey with providing ethically-sourced products has led him to consider the wider implications of sustainability in daily life, and his experiences with the complexities of building systems have led him to state an interest in commissioning practices. An educational background in conservation has influenced Jonny to strive for a greater understanding of how commissioning and sustainable building practice intertwine. At Stephen Turner Inc. Jonny's eye for detail has been critical to the field team on a large scale computerized maintenance management system implementation project at MIT, striving to ensure 100% completion and accuracy. Jonny's desire to learn and grow will lead him to pursue LEED Green Associate and learn how to apply commissioning to make the world a better place.

Josh Willis

Recruited from Maintenance Shows of America, a trade show production company focusing on buildings, engineering, and facility maintenance, Josh Willis came to Stephen Turner Inc. with a growing hunger for knowledge of cutting-edge renewable energy systems and facilities equipment. Previously, Josh was involved in the Food, Service, and Entertainment industry for over 20 years, working intimately with the systems necessary for running those venues. His foundational understanding of HVAC&R, plumbing, and power has eased his transition into the world of commissioning and maintenance management. Extensive travel, an eclectic education and a broad base of professional experience have given Josh the ability to communicate easily with people from all walks of life. Thousands of hours in theater and film give him the unique ability to lead a team and the ability to improvise in order to keep the project moving forward. Public speaking and social media management put Josh in the perfect position to share commissioning concepts between all those involved. At Stephen Turner Inc., Josh is frequently deployed in the field to lead field teams on computerized maintenance management systems implementation projects. His team-building skills and eye for detail are critical qualities in the fast-paced, public-facing environment of a high-profile maintenance management implementation. He is also working on commissioning deliverables for enhanced operations and maintenance, such as colorized drawings and electronic systems manuals.

Judith Barlow

Judy brings over 30 years of wide-ranging experience specializing in small business administration to Stephen Turner Inc. Her background encompasses the fields of historic preservation, community housing and development, community health centers, vineyard management, and green solutions for commercial kitchens Her many talents and expertise comprised of financial management and accounting, client relations, and reporting makes her uniquely qualified to assist in the commissioning process. Additionally, Judy's interest in sustainable practices and solutions has dovetailed with her experiences and familiarity with construction and green technologies. Judy's experience in building rehabilitation and development began in Heidelberg, Germany in the 1970s where she was the assistant to the project manager and controller responsible for the rehabilitation and reuse of an abandoned building for the Army's hospital headquarters administration building. Her interests expanded to historic preservation, affordable housing, and community development when employed by the Providence Revolving Fund for almost 20 years. Upon returning to Rhode Island after several years of working in California's wine industry, Judy started up a family-run franchise that utilizes green technologies for commercial kitchens in restaurants, hospitals and colleges and universities.

KC Harding

KC came to Stephen Turner Inc. with a degree in architectural engineering, giving him breadth in architectural design, MEP design, sustainable design, structural engineering, green building systems, and green construction techniques. Having concentrated his later studies on architecture, he found that there was a significant lack of focus in the discipline on the importance of incorporating effective, efficient building systems into the architectural design process, which led him to reconsider his future career work - and to commissioning. KC has a knack for presenting complex information in an easily digestible visual format. His training in architectural engineering fosters his understanding of the traditional Design-Bid-Build and Integrated Project Delivery processes as it relates the commissioning process. His experience with technical drafting, graphic communications, and various Autodesk products, such as AutoCAD and Revit Architecture & MEP, allow him to grasp and clearly depict HVAC layouts as they relate to various trades. Beyond his programmatic strengths, KC has exemplified an innovative, hands-on attitude which advocates for workflow efficiency which aided his performance in his critical role in the management, coordination, and documentation of a fast-paced, campus-wide equipment inventory for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Nate Taylor

Nate manages significant project commissioning assignments and strategic consulting engagements. He has commissioning experience on complex projects and very high performance buildings. Combining extraordinary communications skills with a can-do approach to field work, Nate earns respect and willing collaboration from the commissioning teams he leads. Nate is committed to consistent and efficient processes and systems, and to providing clients with complete, best in class commissioning outcomes and deliverables possible. Nate's primary project assignments have resulted in repeat clients based on collegial and productive working relationships. Now into his fourth year working with the City of Cambridge, he participated heavily in functional performance testing of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., School in Cambridge, coordinated the 859 Massachusetts Avenue Renovation commissioning effort, co-manages the net zero goal King Open School project, and leads the Foundry renovation commissioning team. He also manages the firm's technical and policy advising work for the Connecticut Green Bank, the nation's first green lending institution. Prior to joining Stephen Turner Inc., Nate served as Policy Director for a campaign for Rhode Island general office, for which he researched, wrote, and edited nearly all public content. Previously, Nate managed publishing operations and performed most of the letterpress printing at Thornwillow Press. He holds a bachelor's degree from Yale University.

Paul Mathurin

Paul has over 30 years of facilities management experience including extensive hands-on work on mechanical and controls systems. As Controls lead for Brown University's Facilities Management team, he oversaw operation and maintenance of all building automation systems in University facilities to support the academic mission of the University. Previously, he served in the Navy as Rank E-5 performing equipment maintenance & repair. Hands-on experience allows Paul to make unique contributions to commissioning fieldwork. He has extensive experience working with complex HVAC systems and controls for over 6 million square feet of university campus space including large complex research facilities, archival conditions, and historic buildings. Paul has a comprehensive understanding of operating and maintaining Building Automation Systems, with in-depth knowledge of Siemens and other manufacturers' platforms and programs. His experience servicing and maintaining building systems including mechanical and controls systems allows him to bring unique focus on Operations and Maintenance issues to his commissioning work. His troubleshooting skills make him an invaluable resource during systems start-up, debugging, and fine-tuning.

Stephen Turner - President

He brings deep engineering understanding and hands-on perspective to diagnosing problems and optimizing buildings. A thought leader in the commissioning sector, he teaches commissioning and publishes widely in peer-reviewed journals. Stephen uses his extensive experience with high performance design, testing and balancing, energy efficient equipment design, control strategy optimization, and life cycle costing to assist project owners in meeting their project specific design goals. As a LEED Accredited Professional, Stephen has worked on dozens of projects that successfully achieved LEED certification, including Platinum, Gold, & Silver. Stephen excels at listening to clients' requirements and translating them into achievable project and program goals that are verified through efficient, effective commissioning processes.
