CHELMSFORD JUNIOR NETBALL CLUB

Chelmsford Junior Netball Club was started in the early 1970's by the late Jean Armstrong (President of the Chelmsford Senior Netball Club and one of the founders of the Chelmsford and District Netball League). She started training a group of about 10 girls and called them "Rainsford School" as that was where training was held... As more girls joined, Jean changed the name to Chelmsford Junior Netball Club and the venue was moved to Hylands School. During those early years Jackie Webb, now our Chairperson, was one of those girls. Jackie's Mum Beryl Webb is still a member of the Club and is the Registration Secretary. Also still with the Club is Val Baker-Fitzgerald (still a manager with the club and also our Treasurer) who assisted with the training. Pam Swain (who has sadly passed away) was the Treasurer and helped with the umpiring... In 1991 Jean Armstrong moved to Devon and the leadership of the club was taken over by Jeanne McCann.
