I have mathematical background (Lomonosov Moscow State University) and my professional interests include using computational modeling and data analysis techniques to study the adaptive immune system. My project within ARCAID project is related to the development and application of bioinformatics methods for analyzing Adaptive Immune Receptor Repertoire (AIRR) sequencing data.

Dr. Adrie Dane

Dr. Aldo Jongejan

Job Titles:
  • Senior Researcher, Senior Support
I studied chemistry at the Rijksuniversiteit Leiden and obtained my PhD degree at the Technical University Delft investigating both biochemically and computationally the structure and mechanism of the quinoheamoprotein alcohol dehydrogenase from C. testosteroni (thesis). Did a post-doc at the Vrije Uiversiteit Amsterdam modelling the structure and activation mechanism of G-protein coupled receptors (see fx. this paper). Thereafter taught Bioinformatics at the University of Applied Science in Leiden before joining the Bioinformatics Laboratory at the Academic Medical Center (AMC). Here I provide bioinformatic support for research groups for their sequencing projects (whole genome, exome, transcriptome, single cell etc.)

Prof. dr. Antoine van Kampen

Job Titles:
  • Professor
Antoine van Kampen has a background in chemometrics. He did his PhD research with the department of chemometrics at the Radboud University Nijmegen. The title of this thesis was "The applicability of genetic algorithms to complex optimization problems in chemistry". He moved to the Amsterdam University Medical Centers (location AMC) of the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in 1997 where he got involved in bioinformatics. Currently, he is the group leader of the Bioinformatics Laboratory. This group is involved in bioinformatics and computational modelling research, education and support. He holds the chair Medical Bioinformatics at the Faculty of Medicine (Amsterdam University Medical Centers). He collaborates with the Biosystems Data Analysis group (UvA) where he is hosted for one day per week. His main interest is the computational modelling of the immune system and connecting this to bioinformatics/omics research. Large part of his time is dedicated to teaching bioinformatics and systems biology as part of the AMC Doctorate School, Bachelor Biomedical sciences (University of Amsterdam), the master Computational Sciences (Institute for Informatics, UvA), and the master Bioinformatics and Systems Biology of the UvA/VU. He was member and chaired several NVAO (Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders) committees for the accredication of several higher education institutions in the Netherlands and Belgium. He was member of the visitation committee of the ‘Lectoraat Analysetechnieken in de Life Sciences' (Avans Hogeschool, Breda), and chaired a VLUHR visitation committee in Belgium.
