Dr. Halil Ceylan

Dr. Halil Ceylan is a Pitt-Des Moines, Inc. endowed professor in the Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Department at Iowa State University and the director of the Program for Sustainable Pavement Engineering and Research (PROSPER) at the Institute for Transportation. He also serves as the ISU site director for the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) Center of Excellence (COE) for Partnership to Enhance General Aviation Safety, Accessibility and Sustainability (PEGASAS). He has over 20 years of experience in pavement/granular road field investigation and forensic testing, field instrumentation and monitoring, pavement/granular road performance evaluation and modeling, mechanistic-based pavement/granular road analysis and design concepts, pavement/granular road preservation and rehabilitation, non-destructive testing and health monitoring of transportation infrastructure systems, economic analysis of transportation infrastructure assets, and engineering application of intelligent data mining and computational intelligence techniques. He has been involved with over 125 research projects (more than $19.6M of external funding/more than $22.7M of project funds, including matching funds) in which he has served as the PI and/or Co-PI; these projects, related to transportation infrastructure systems, have been sponsored by the Federal Aviation Association, Federal Highway Administration, National Cooperative Highway Research Program, National Science Foundation, Second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2), Portland Cement Association, various state departments of transportation (DOTs) and research boards, including the Iowa DOT and Iowa Highway Research Board, among others.

Dr. Kejin Wang is a professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering and is closely associated with the National Center of Concrete Pavement Technology at Iowa State University. She does research in many aspects of concrete materials, including cement hydration, microstructure characterization, concrete durability, sustainable concrete materials, and advanced concrete technology.

Dr. Peter Taylor

Dr. Peter Taylor leads internationally recognized research at the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center. His high-impact work has resulted in the development of standard practices such as AASHTO PP 84: Developing Performance Engineered Concrete Pavement Mixtures. Additionally, his research has helped transportation agencies save millions of dollars by preventing premature failures in sawn joints and improving concrete proportioning tools for sustainable concrete mixtures. Dr. Taylor regularly presents at workshops, seminars, and conferences as an invited speaker, where the information he presents about the current research in concrete technology has a strong impact on the concrete pavement community in the United States and internationally.

Mr. Dan King

Mr. Dan King is a research engineer for the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center, where he assists with the center's research and technology transfer efforts, putting the latest science in concrete pavements into practice around the country. He previously worked for the Iowa Concrete Paving Association and Iowa Ready Mixed Concrete Association, where he provided his expertise in concrete pavements and materials for Iowa's construction and engineering communities. Mr. King is registered as a professional engineer in Iowa. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the University of Illinois, and he is also currently pursuing a PhD in civil engineering at Iowa State.

Mr. John Adam

Mr. John Adam is currently serving as an associate director for the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center, managing multifaceted, multiyear research projects from inception through submission of the final deliverables. He provides technical assistance, training to professionals, and presentations to key stakeholders to support advancements in concrete pavement design, construction, and maintenance. Mr. Adam has worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) as well as several firms in private industry during his engineering career. Mr. Adam is a 1980 graduate of Iowa State University, with a bachelor's degree in construction engineering, and is licensed in Iowa as a civil engineer. He was highway division director and chief engineer for the Iowa DOT for six years, after earlier serving as the DOT statewide operations bureau director. Following that, he spent several years as senior vice president at Knight Engineering. In addition, he has been a member of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Subcommittee on Highway Traffic Safety, AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways, and numerous other AASHTO subcommittees throughout his career. Mr. Adam brings more than 30 years of experience in the design and delivery of transportation improvement projects. He has often collaborated with project stakeholders and the community to develop the right solutions for transportation challenges.

Ms. Denise Wagner

Ms. Denise Wagner has been the secretary for the National Concrete Pavement Technology Center since January 2004. Her duties include communicating with research and administrative committees for the center; coordinating meetings, webinars, and conferences; making and processing extensive travel arrangements; and other administrative tasks associated with the operation of the center.  Ms. Wagner has seven years of previous experience in other administrative support positions at Iowa State University and was a secretary in the Office of the Provost and in the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Northern Iowa for eight years.  She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa, where she majored in social work and minored in English.
