EXPECTING

When our founder was expecting her first child, she found it ridiculous how impossible it was to find a trusted source of information that we could relate to. There was nothing about how to handle oneself or what foods to eat or not eat, and so on and so forth... After giving birth, it was even more obvious how much Ugandans depend on information shared by non-Africans. While it was helpful now and then, it was still difficult to ‘keep up' because of how little Africans could relate to it. The recipes were complicated because of how specific the ingredients were and how difficult it was to find them. Symptoms of illness in the child were not as obvious because of reasons like our children not turning red/pink when hurt.
