The Academy as commissioner made the choice to stay as close as possible to the educational vision of the academy deciding to use the existing characteristics of the Rietveld and Sandberg community. In September 2011 a DIY competition was held open to teams with knowledge of the specific culture of the art academy. Thus Fedlev was founded. Apart from Bremmer, Fedlev's other team members were artist Maze de Boer, student from inter-architecture Sandra Stanionyte and student graphic design Luca Carboni. The team was extended with architects and designers from the network of Studio Paulien Bremmer delivering the competition design and after winning, the sketch design.
