MUSEUM OF AUTHENTICITY

The Museum of Authenticity, an intimate museum of art and culture, opened on 16 October 2020 in historic downtown Salida, Colorado following over seven years of planning and construction. The idea for the Museum presented itself-I was not looking for it. That said, throughout my adult life, I have hoped to leave behind something of value to others-the Museum is my legacy... The Museum occupies two locations. The Main Building at 124 E 2nd Street houses MoA's exhibits and a museum shop and provides access to MoA's well-tended gardens. Back to back with the Museum, the Annex at 119-B E 1st Street houses MoA's gallery and Thordis Niela Simonsen's art studio. The renovations of the Museum building were completed in October 2020, and opened with Sum of the Parts, an exhibit featuring wood assemblage sculptures by Salida's beloved Bernice Strawn. The Annex on 1st Street opened in December 2021.
