Master Instructor, Burton Maben, a certified Ninth Degree Black Belt in Okinawa Isshinryu Karate, and Okinawa Weaponary (Kobudo), prides himself in teaching all his students life skills through the practice of Karate. Sensei Maben's philosophy of teaching and training often are at odds with the popular portrayal of martial arts as violent and antagonistic. He states "Karate's training method and moral philosophy actually prepares a defender to avoid fighting, in fact the karate quality of calmness and confidence is the antithesis of aggression and inhumanity."
