With intensive international and local experience, Auckland women can be confident in the expertise of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Doctor Ammar Al-Abid. With four years of general surgery before a six year post-graduate specialist programme, Ammar and his family moved to New Zealand in 1994 to complete his training and gain Fellowship of the RANZCOG (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists). Ammar and his team practice a broad range of women's healthcare in a safe environment with strong emphasis on individual values, patient driven treatment decisions and a team approach to care planning. Splitting his time between private practice and his consultant position at North Shore Hospital, Ammar is actively involved in training, teaching and mentoring registrars undertaking the RANZCOG training programme.
