NORFOLK FENCING CLUB - Key Persons

Clare started fencing in 2019 after completing the 6 week beginners course. She was inspired to start fencing on retirement by the photo of Connie Adam displayed at UEA, as part of the #ThisGirlCan campaign. She works with Adam to ensure the club continues to be a safe space for all our members.
Luke started fencing at the age of 16 with the North Kesteven Fencing Club in Lincolnshire, back in 2013. He moved to Norfolk in 2015 to study history at UEA and joined UEA Fencing. He served the club as vice-president for two years and as president in his final year of university. Luke jumped at opportunities to develop skills in refereeing and coach. Luke is now a level 2 referee in foil, epee and sabre. He is also part of our coaching team and holds a level 3 sabre coaching qualification through the British Academy of Fencing.

Paul has been fencing for over 25 years and coaching full time for 13 years. He coaches fencers of all levels, from beginners to advanced competitors.

Rach started fencing in January 2016 at UEA. Rach has now stepped up to the role of treasurer and begun her coaching journey as our beginners' coach. Her aims are to cultivate a healthy competitive spirit among our members, in particular the sabreurs. She is looking to encourage increased attendance at events, hopefully better performance, but first and foremost she wants to make sure everyone has a jolly good time!
Rob has over 5 years of first hand experience of fencing with a disability to competition level. He has even received ‘other handed' fencing lessons. After suffering a leg injury, he received lessons from a seated position. He has experience of wheelchair fencing, sparring with a former Paralympian. Rob is keen to get anyone involved with para-fencing or adaptive lessons with a coach.
Sarah started fencing aged 15, when she first joined Norfolk Fencing Club. She can normally be found with a sabre at hand on a club night, although she is known to have fenced Epee and Foil on occasion.
