The bank was founded in the name of Dr. Panjabrao alias Bhausaheb Deshmukh, the first Union Agriculture Minister of India. Initially it was the cooperative society named as Shri Shivaji salary earners credit co-operative society Reg. no. 101 Amt. with its President Adv. M. M. Patil. Who had an initiative of converting the co-operative society in the Bank and was registered as The Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd. Amravati. on Dated :- 27th of December 1973.
