He is versatile in adapting programs to client needs, while managing applicable state and federal regulations and mandates.

Eliot Nelson

Eliot Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Astrophysics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He joined RSR in 2016 as an analyst on Xcel Energy Colorado's Electric and Gas Distribution Extension Agreement Program. Eliot helped to streamline the program by automating many procedures that analysts follow, ultimately saving hundreds of staff-hours. Eliot develops business strategies that deepen client relationships by consulting on improved program workflows, conducting market research, and designing implementation strategies for energy efficiency programs.

Hannah Engelhart

Job Titles:

Hannah Engelhart is responsible for the daily operation of three major utility New Homes Programs and two Commercial Programs for RSR. In this capacity, Hannah develops and implements program improvements to maintain effectiveness in the face of changing energy and building code requirements. Hannah holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Winona State University and a Master's Degree in Psychology from St. Mary's University.

Kyle Finn - COO

Kyle Finn holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Political Science from Drake University. He also received his Master of Accounting & Financial Management and is a certified CPA with the state of Minnesota. Working in demanding finance and accounting environments with a wide range of financial responsibilities, Kyle has gained extensive experience developing positive relationships with clients. Since joining RSR in 2012, Kyle has overseen multiple utility implementation and M&V contracts, ensuring clear and concise budgets are established and maintained throughout the life of the project.

Mat Gates - CEO

Gates has worked in the residential building science industry for more than 20 years, primarily focusing on the development of energy savings programs for utilities and municipalities in several states. As a consultant and industry leader, Mat strives to educate professionals and homeowners about building health, safety, comfort, durability, and energy efficiency. His efforts have led to consultation of over 50,000 homes across the country. He founded Residential Science Resources (RSR) in 2004, an energy efficiency consulting firm for utilities, builders and homeowners, and launched HouseRater two years later as the powerful tool for efficient management of energy savings programs and building science consulting. Mat holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Residential Building Science & Technology from the University of Minnesota.
