SHINE360

Shine360 was founded by Radiation Oncologist, ​Helen Shih, MD, MS, MPH, after a number of her brain tumor patients with curative conditions were active drug users (specifically addicted to heroin/opioids). Disinterested and disengaged from their brain tumor care, these patients shared a common disposition of indifference whether they lived or not, with their noncompliance placing them at significant risk of succumbing to their brain tumors. In response, Dr. Shih has taken a 360-degree approach to learning about addiction by hearing from active/recovered drug users, spending time with affected families, and interacting with first responders.
