Barbara Cavness, CEO of (un)Common Logic, has more than 12 years' experience in digital marketing and account management. She joined (un)Common Logic in 2010 as Director of Client Operations, rising to CEO in 2014. Before joining (un)Common Logic, Barbara was a senior client services manager at TIG Global, a Washington, DC-based interactive marketing agency, where she focused on marketing for the hospitality industry. Her duties at TIG also included marketing strategy development, website design and strategy coordination, email marketing strategy, and strategic partner development. Barbara earned a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University, where she also captained the Duke women's lacrosse team. When she's not working, Barbara enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities, including biking, hiking, running, and water sports.

Jeff Hoogendam - Founder

Jeff Hoogendam is a principal of (un)Common Logic, with deep experience in marketing strategy, business development, and venture capital. Jeff has more than 10 years' experience in the venture capital industry, as a partner with Intersouth Partners, an early stage venture capital firm, and as a charter member of the Kauffman Fellows Venture Capital Program. Jeff is one of the two co-founders of (un)Common Logic, which started as a lead-generation company in 2005. When the lead-gen unit spun off into its own firm, 360Connect, Jeff became CEO of that company. This wasn't Jeff's first experience co-founding a company, nor was it his first experience with Jim McKinley. Jeff and Jim met when they were both entrepreneurs-in-residence at SSM Ventures, and co-founded venture-backed start-up SmartPrice, Inc., a free service to help businesses and consumers compare, select, and manage telecommunication services. Jeff was also CEO of the company. Before SmartPrice, Jeff served as CEO of InfoGlide Software, a leading provider of fraud detection and alias identification software solutions for insurance companies. In his role as CEO, he oversaw the launch of the company's first product, Fraud Investigator, secured the first lighthouse customers, and raised several rounds of additional capital. Jeff speaks at numerous venture capital and technology-related functions, and currently serves on the boards of advisors for several start-up companies in the Austin area. Jeff was a technology consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). At Andersen, Jeff sold, developed, and implemented technology solutions to various Fortune 500 clients all over the country. Jeff earned his MBA with honors in entrepreneurship and finance from the University of Texas, Austin, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, magna cum laude, from Texas A&M University. He is a board member of the Moot Corp Foundation and has served as a judge every year in the International Moot Corp. Business Plan Competition since winning the event in 1995. As a founding partner of (un)Common Logic and an Adjunct Professor of Digital Marketing at Baylor University, Jim McKinley has a range of experience in online marketing, growing companies, and technology that's both wide and deep. Jim is one of the two co-founders of (un)Common Logic, which started as a lead-generation company in 2005. Initially, Jim managed all aspects of the business: tactical digital marketing expertise, account management, training and development of talent and new customer acquisition. In 2008, the lead-gen unit spun off into its own firm, 360Connect, while the digital-marketing unit, which had been growing, became an agency named 360Partners. In the intervening years, 360Partners has become (un)Common Logic, and Jim's role has evolved to that of an active board member who still likes to go deep on things. Prior to founding the company, Jim was an entrepreneur-in-residence at SSM Ventures and co-founded SmartPrice, Inc. in 1999. The company raised $8M in venture capital and provided a free service that helped businesses and consumers compare, select, and manage telecommunication services. In his role as VP of Marketing and Sales, Jim and his team acquired more than 250,000 customers in the early days of digital marketing. Before SmartPrice.com, Jim worked for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Dallas, focusing on strategic and marketing issues in the high-tech and utility industries. Jim also served as an information technology consultant for Andersen Consulting, where he designed computer applications, interfaces, and associated business operations for Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. Jim earned his MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago, with a concentration in Marketing Management. He also completed a BBA in Marketing from Baylor University, summa cum laude, and has returned to Baylor as an Adjunct Professor of Digital Marketing. Jim currently serves as an informal advisor to several small companies in the Austin area and enjoys basketball, travel, and spending time with his family.
