Dr. D. Bordelon

Dr. Bordelon graduated from Louisiana State University ‘s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. He was in general practice for five years prior to starting his career in emergency medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency and Critical Care in 2002 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2003. Dr. Bordelon moved to the Pensacola area in 2003 and established the Veterinary Emergency Referral Center. He is also actively involved in the local veterinary community and is currently the president of the Northwest Florida Veterinary Medical Association. His hobbies include water sports, fishing and photography.

Dr. F. Navarro

Dr. Navarro was born and raised in the fun loving and foodie state of Louisiana. Her parents supported her love for animals, and she grew up with dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, goats, cows, pigs, ducks, geese, rabbits, a horse and even a brother. She started college in the fall of 2009 at Louisiana State University from which she graduated with honors. After three years at LSU, she entered Louisiana State University: School of Veterinary Medicine, from which she graduated in 2013. She then moved to Las Vegas and practiced small animal general practice medicine and surgery at Valley Ranch Animal Hospital for four years where she worked for Dr. James Nave and was mentored by Dr. Reese and Dr. Massey-Walters. In 2017, Dr. Navarro moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida, and began working in Emergency Medicine at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center with Dr. Lymen. This is where Dr. Navarro found her love for emergency medicine. Dr. Navarro moved to the beautiful Pensacola area to work with Dr. Bordelon and the VERC team to follow her passion for emergency medicine in 2019. Dr. Navarro has a three-pound Yorkie named Octavia. Octavia (Tavi) fostered and convinced Dr. Navarro to adopt a cat they named Olivia, who is Tavi's best friend. When Dr. Navarro is not working, she enjoys reading, walking, and spending time with her family back home in Louisiana.

Dr. J. Acosta

Dr. Acosta graduated from Indiana's Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 after an eight-year enlistment in the U.S. Navy. Fleeing the bitter cold of the Midwest, she quickly headed south and practiced small animal medicine and surgery in Homosassa, Florida for five years. She also worked part-time in an emergency hospital in her spare time. Dr. Acosta joined our emergency department in 2010 in order to make emergency and critical care medicine a full-time endeavor. She has an interest in integrative medicine and offers Acupuncture services in a limited capacity. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her English Bull Terrier. She also enjoys yoga, running, obstacle racing, water life on the Gulf Coast and theater.

Dr. M. Eyles

Dr. Eyles graduated from the University of South Florida with degrees in biology and psychology before attending veterinary school at Tufts University in Grafton, Massachusetts. After graduating from Tufts in 2005, he lived in northern Vermont for three years, practicing primarily as a veterinarian for dairy cows. His career transitioned into small animal medicine and surgery and has been focused almost entirely on emergency and critical care. He moved to Florida's beautiful Gulf Coast and joined the VERC team in 2009. When not working, he enjoys playing drums, skateboarding and playing with his three-legged rescue cat, Flower Pot.

Dr. R. Lemarie

Dr. Lemarie is a native of Arkansas where she was born and raised. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University), and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge. During veterinary school, she developed an affinity for surgery and was attracted to the surgical correction of small animal injuries and diseases. Following graduation, she pursued an internship at the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine where her love for Small Animal Surgery was reinforced. Following the internship, life brought her back to the state of Louisiana where she was enrolled in graduate school at LSU, and was the first recipient of a Masters Degree in Veterinary Clinical Sciences from LSU. While obtaining her graduate degree, she was employed by multiple general practices as a relief veterinarian throughout Southeast Louisiana, developing her clinical skills. She began her Residency in Small Animal Surgery at LSU in 1995 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1999. In 2000 following completion of her surgical specialty education, she became a founding partner of Southeast Veterinary Specialists in New Orleans. The practice grew from the specialties of Surgery and Dermatology to include Internal Medicine, Oncology, Emergency & Critical Care, and Physical Rehabilitation. During this time, Dr. Lemarie performed general surgery, orthopedic surgery, and neurologic surgery daily, while also serving as a practice owner and manager. She has served many roles in clinical practice and uniquely understands the needs of the referring doctors that she serves. Although her love is orthopedic surgery, she has a broad surgical knowledge that allows her to adapt to other areas of surgery when needed. Dr. Lemarie has a love for South Louisiana and New Orleans and has a home in the French Quarter where she enjoys the history, art and architecture associated with the city. Dr. Lemarie is a long term friend of Dr. Bordelon and his family, and has been around VERC in Pensacola since its inception. She has recently moved to Navarre Beach with her family and is joining VERC as an Associate Surgeon where she plans to support our team in providing surgical services for this region. Dr. Lemarie is an avid runner and enjoys the outdoors and the beach when she is not working. Her family includes a French Bulldog (Champignon), a Wirehaired Dachshund (Riseaux), and a cat (Aubergine).

Dr. R. Takalo

Dr. Takalo was born in Monterey, California and spent her early childhood in Naples, Italy. The daughter of a Naval Aviator, she moved to Pensacola with her family when her father retired. She earned a degree in Pre-Professional Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of West Florida. She then attended Auburn University's prestigious College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2011. With a passion for emergency medicine, Dr. Takalo returned to the Gulf Coast to practice and has been an emergency doctor at VERC since the fall of 2011. In her spare time, Dr. Takalo enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Born and raised locally, Tasha is a Pensacola native. She started in the veterinary field at the age of 16 as a kennel tech working her way up to a technician. Tasha relishes the constantly changing environment and complicated cases of VERC. When not working hard, she enjoys traveling and being caffeinated.
