WOUNDED KNEE MUSEUM

Our goal is to help people understand what happened at the Wounded Knee Massacre, what led up to it, and what resulted from it. Many people simply don't know. Others may have been misinformed or know only part of the story. We want people to know the facts about this really important event in our history. We believe they will see the impact of the past on what is happening now and will happen in the future... You could say research on this began on December 30, 1890. We came into the picture in 1994, when Steve Wyant, who is the driving force behind the project, first got interested in looking at Wounded Knee-what it was, why it happened, what the results were. The idea of the museum as a way to present this to the public came out of his search for understanding. He put together a team to research and write about the massacre. We've been working on it ever since... This narrative museum provides a deeper understanding of the December 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre
