After a successful thirty-year career in the Royal Navy, Andrew began working in the charity sector in 2005 where he held an Executive Director position at the ‘Friends of the Lake District' landscape charity. Andrew then spent 8 years at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust as a Revalidation Project Manager and then interim Company Secretary before joining Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Andy Clarke

Andy Clarke, former President and CEO of Asda, has over 25 years' experience driving performance improvement in multi brand international businesses. As a trusted public speaker and influential figure in British business, Andy has sector experience in food, fashion and general merchandise across property-intensive, multi-channel and online retailers. He has managed multi-site retail businesses from £1bn to £25bn in turnover, with net income of £150m to £1.1bn and employees from 18k to 180k. Having served on the Prime Minister's (David Cameron) Business Advisory Group-, Andy now sits on the board of directors at four forward-thinking and ambitious companies where he is on hand to share his considerable knowledge and expertise.

After first joined the charity as a volunteer in 2011 - designing event posters and providing support to the fundraising team - Andy is one of our longest serving members of the team. With a degree in graphic design Andy built his experience at Step Change Debt Charity. In addition to his role in the Communications Team, Andy is a keen runner and can regularly be found taking part in at least one of our annual challenge events - including the Athens Marathon!

Christine Talbot

Christine Talbot is a multi-award winning TV presenter and journalist, best known as the presenter of the ITV Yorkshire regional news programme Calendar for twenty years, and, before that, as host of the magazine programme Tonight. She has covered most of region's main news stories in this time and interviewed those in the news from Prime Ministers and celebrities to ordinary people with extraordinary tales to tell. She is also an Ambassador and Patron of nine local charities and is a regular awards and event host. Christine has covered many stories with families whose children are in need of exactly the kind of care a Children's Hospital will provide and is looking forward to being part of the process of bringing this brilliant project to full operation in a part of the world she is passionate about.

Christine Yorath

After the sudden death of one of her four children in 1992 she became involved with Disabilities Trust who named one of their residences "Daniel Yorath House" after her late son and in 1993 she joined the board of Trustees and witnessed its huge national growth before retiring from the board in 2020 when she was awarded the position of Patron of DYH. Christine also has an interest in two other charities - Breast Cancer Haven, for whom she was on the capital fund raising committee, and the Cardiomyopathy Association, within which the Daniel Yorath Appeal has raised over £250k for the organisation and both of which give her an insight into how other charities work. Christine hopes that her straightforward common-sense and practicality have a value to the Capital Appeal Board.

His current role is to lead the campaign to deliver £30 million for the new Children's Hospital.

Esther joined the charity in 2020 bringing a wide range of experience from 15 years of working in the charity sector, including 10 years in the hospice sector where she was successful in implementing new income streams and introducing a range of regular giving programs. Esther is leading the charity's vision of working in partnership across the city of Leeds to tackle health inequalities, support Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to continue to lead the way with health innovation technology and support the hospitals in caring for patients with rare diseases. Esther is passionate about enabling the support, donations and Gifts in Wills received by the charity to have an immediate impact across the hospitals, beyond what the NHS can fund, to improve the patient experience. She is inspired every day by the dedicated staff in the hospital and in the charity who are committed to doing their best for patients and their families.

Haris is also a member of the National NHS Youth Forum where he co-led on the forum's report to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. He has led on work which looked at Medical Students' knowledge of health inequalities and is a member of the #iwill campaign's Health and Social Care Group.

Michael worked for Arthur Andersen for nearly 30 years before retiring in 2001 as UK Regional and Senior Managing partner. He developed a number of businesses in healthcare and property, and in 2009 made the decision to reorganise those interests to focus on growing OneMedical Group. From 2000 - 2006 Michael was a government appointed member of the then Department of Trade and Industry's Industrial Development Board (IDAB). Michael is a current member of the Court of the University of Leeds and was a founding member of the Campaign Board which successfully raised over £100m for research and teaching facilities at the University. From 1998 - 2010 he was the Chairman of Opera North. Latterly from 2013 to 2019 he was the Chairman of the Monteverdi Choir and Orchestras (English Baroque Soloists and the ORR). He has also chaired a number of other arts organisations. Michael was appointed in 2000 a Deputy Lieutenant of the County of West Yorkshire.
