Andrew Wintersgill

Job Titles:

Andrew very much shares the aspirations of his colleagues to create special places in which people want to live, work and enjoy leisure; and which deliver the objectives of DLA's clients. The challenge of managing complex projects, including preparing planning applications for large-scale developments which require the coordination of work by sizeable teams, is something Andrew thrives on. He enjoys making the high-level case for a project through writing a Planning Statement or speaking at a Local Plan Examination just as much as he appreciates the opportunity to wrestle with the detail of draft chapters of an Environmental Statement or the minutiae of policies in an emerging Local Plan.

Helen Armes

Helen's expertise, developed over 15 years at the forefront of strategic planning and regeneration, encompasses work at a variety of scales from the promotion of strategic scale development to the negotiation of the finer details of an infrastructure scheme, and everything in between. In recent years she has taken particular pleasure in witnessing the new places and communities she has helped shape and secure permission for be implemented. A key example of this is the Houlton scheme in Rugby, which Helen has had a lead role in planning since its allocation in 2011, which is now a thriving, growing community. Helen is driven by the desire to contribute to the effort to build more homes and a pride in helping to deliver new and improve existing communities. Helen's approach to planning is centred around the belief that collaboration and communication, with clients, local authorities, stakeholders and the public, is imperative to delivering positive outcomes. Balanced with a keen commercial understanding, Helen enjoys providing solutions led planning advice to clients. Helen's current focus is on balancing the provision of planning advice to master developer clients on major long term schemes, to the contrasting challenges of public sector commissions, including spatial strategies and town centre masterplans in new and different parts of the country.
