Debi has owned and managed her own business since 1991 and worked as a teacher in colleges in the West Midlands teaching both full and part time students and apprentices for over 20 years. She is passionate about working with apprentices in their workplaces to help them understand their learning journey from start to finish and to inspire them to grow into their chosen career path Students and apprentices have benefited from the support, experience and knowledge that Debi has acquired through running her own business. During her career she has worked with marketing and managers in education settings helping students to launch their own businesses, something which gives her a lot of pleasure. Managing and building her own business has proved invaluable throughout her teaching career and she enjoys nothing more than seeing the development and success of the students following the support she has given to them. Seeing students succeed and achieve their goals is something she is very passionate about and committed to.

The Absolute Works story began in 2011, when Joy May founded the company with a commitment to taking a fresh approach to HR support for SMEs. Joy envisaged HR that would be built around excellent customer service and helping SMEs to maximise their profits. Hailing from a boardroom background, where she held Group HR Director and Retail Operation Director Roles, Joy's experience spans a diverse range of industries both nationally and globally. Joy has expertise in developing and expanding businesses from start up through to acquisitions and was involved in a successful management buyout and exit. An experienced and successful coach specialising in working with directors and owner managers of small and medium sized companies. Joy has a Master's degree in Strategic Human Resource and is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors. Joy is passionate about apprenticeships; she set up and is still heavily involved in the apprenticeship arm at Absolute Works which goes from strength to strength. Joy enjoys coaching and mentoring small business owners on strategy as well as supporting small to medium companies with outsourced HR. She also works with retailers launching new businesses and supports them in their growth, both in the UK and internationally.

She has over 20 years' experience in Further Education holding senior positions during this time. She is an experienced assessor, lecturer, and during her career was Assistant Programme Manager and Curriculum Quality Leader where she gained immense knowledge and skills. . Over the past four years she has worked with an awarding body to assist in the development of technical qualifications for apprenticeship. Scot joined the Absolute Works team in May 2019 after working for a number of large organisations across the Midlands in both HR and Operations. Scot has extensive experience in customer facing leadership roles and has the ability to prioritise and work under pressure. Scot can quickly adapt to new challenges and grasp complex systems and processes. Scots operational and HR experience covers most sectors including Retail, Manufacturing, Logistics, Hospitality and Utilities. Since completing his CIPD level 5 in 2017 and will shortly commence studying for a Degree in Human Resources on a part time basis in his free time. When Scots not studying for his degree, he spends his time participating in local community theatre and enjoys walking his Jack Russell- Chihuahua cross Bertie.
