My career began in Telecommunications in the late 90's, working on design and construction projects for Cable and Wireless. Having completed an MSc in Project Management at the University of Salford, I made the leap to the Mouchel Telematics team in 2002, before joining 4way in 2012.
My first (and probably still favourite) ITS project was the design, build and operational delivery of the (then) Highways Agency's first purpose built Regional Control Centre at Godstone in Surrey. Since then I have remained passionate about the delivery of technology solutions which make a genuine difference for network operators and I've been lucky enough to work on projects that do this with industry leading clients including National Highways, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority and Hertfordshire County Council.
I try to fill my spare time on adventures with my young family. When they get sick of me, you'll find me at the match, in a pool or out on my bike.

Following a couple of years working as an Apprentice with Salford City Council I joined Atkins Odlin Consulting Engineers, initially working on site before moving into the design team. Through acquisition I joined Mouchel where I worked as a Regional Manager before joining 4way in 2013.
I've been fortunate enough to work on highways technology projects of varying complexity and scale both in the UK and internationally. I really enjoy the technical focus of my job, particularly the opportunity to investigate complex problems and solve them collaboratively with colleagues and clients. I'm also responsible for the Health and Safety aspects of the 4way business and therefore hold a keen interest not only in scheme design but implementation, operation and maintainability too.
I am the number one fan, supporter and general taxi driver for my kids sporting activities and events. Whether it be football, basketball, netball or swimming - I'm there cheering them on (and giving them a lift).
Job Titles:
- Technical Director for Implementation

My career in motorway communications began in the mid 90's, working for the West Midlands Regional Maintenance Contractor. In 2006 I joined Mouchel as the Lead Commissioning Engineer for Active Traffic Management and then Managed Motorways. I joined 4way in 2011 and have led the implementation and handover of connected roads schemes ever since.
I spend much of my time working with control room operators, witnessing first-hand the pressure they work under on a daily basis. As demand on those services continues to grow, I understand the impact that underperforming technology assets and systems can place on already stretched resources and I'm committed to finding the solutions. "Right first time" is only one part of the 4way team's ethos in this regard. We're driven to find ways of maintaining high standards of system performance well into the future. Robust processes at the point of handover and effective optimisation that supports operations rather than hinders it; that's what I come to work for.
I work on projects all over the country so finding opportunities for quality time at home with my family is something I prioritise. I also enjoy staying active at the gym and following a reasonably successful playing career, am now focussed on the coaching of my local under 16's football team.

My career started as a graduate in 2001 working for a small ITS and street lighting consultancy - Atkins Odlin Consulting Engineers; where I was an ITS graduate cutting my teeth working on Highways Agency triple package technology schemes in the UK. I eventually made the leap to join 4way in 2012.
We all have favourite projects and clients who have been a pleasure to work for over the years. It gives us all a reason to enjoy work and arrive with a skip in our step but my job ultimate satisfaction comes from seeing those around me grow. My career started as graduate ‘sponge'. I wanted to strive for success and experienced first-hand how great it was to be supported by those senior folk around me….I now try to replicate this in my working life with all members of the teams I work in.
When I'm not working or spending time with my family, I will generally be found adorned in lycra, ripping up the lanes of Warwickshire on my bike (thinking I am Bradley Wiggins).
Job Titles:
- Board Director / Business Growth Director

I studied Electrical Engineering in Manchester before joining Atkins Odlin as a Graduate in 1992. After 11 years learning the business they were sold to Mouchel in 2003. I subsequently held roles of Managing Director and Operations Director in Mouchel. I left in 2008 to join Serco and then EC Harris (now Arcadis) before setting up 4way Consulting in 2010.
I enjoy helping Clients to understand and solve problems in the field of highways technology, maintenance and operations. I spent the earlier part of my career designing a number of controlled and smart motorways and then had a great period working on successful PFI Highway bids identifying the optimum whole life cost technology and LED lighting solutions. In more recent years I have focussed more on the extensive technology in tunnels and the need for digital services.
I live in Leamington Spa with my wife, two children and a black Labrador. I love to be outdoors walking, climbing and cycling to keep fit for expeditions to various parts of the world. I keep a close eye on Aston Villa wherever I am!
Job Titles:
- Principal Engineer Within the Connected Roads
My whole working life has been within the Intelligent Transport Systems sector. Post University I joined Atkins Odlin, based in Coventry, who were then acquired by Mouchel Parkman. Then in early 2010 I left Mouchel and along with three long term colleagues formed 4way Consulting, to which I now have the honour of being Managing Director.
Within my career I have had the opportunity to work throughout the project lifecycle from development of standards through to scheme delivery. I have been actively involved in the evolution of Smart Motorways from early Controlled Motorway schemes, through to the deployment of Active Traffic Management on the M42 and more latterly the introduction of Smart Motorways. Irrespective of whether my involvement is in design or delivery I take personal satisfaction from being involved in large scale infrastructure projects, seeing the benefits that they realise and often the lasting friendships that are formed whilst delivering.
When I am not working (some may say that I am always working - and there is an element of truth in that ) then you will find me either on the Peloton or walking the dog. I also love pretty much every sport, especially if it can be enjoyed with the family.
