ASHKENAZI GENOME

The Ashkenazi Genome Consortium (TAGC) represents the combined efforts of more than a dozen genetics investigators to rapidly accelerate research across the full spectrum of medicine, and to advance personal genomics from idea to reality... The TAGC consortium was founded in 2011 by 11 labs from the NY area and Israel, with the goal of generating a comprehensive catalog of genetic variation in the Ashkenazi Jewish population. In our first phase, we have generated high-coverage, whole genome sequences for 128 healthy individuals of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, as described in our paper in Nature Communications (2014). In Phase 2, we will sequence additional 200 healthy Ashkenazi individuals, in collaboration with the New York Genome Center.
