By Saturday night the large field of starters was whittled down to nine. Sylvia Rowe and Wilma Ennor still had 2 lives intact. One-lifers included Brenda Falvey, Julie Haslett, Val Ives, Irene Millar, Shirley Goffin, Colleen McLaughlin and Lynda Boyd... Hot humid conditions on Sunday made competitive bowling difficult but the standard of play appeared to go even higher. Only three players remained in the championship at the close of the day; Sylvia Rowe (2 lives), Wilma Ennor (1 life) and Irene Millar (1 life)... Division 1 - Last week I said we had an outside chance in this section but ..... we finished 2nd. Well done, boys! Congratulations to Waipukurau for coming 1st.
