CRYSTAL COAST PHANTOMS - Key Persons
Lived and graduated in Havelock NC, He Is a Retired Marine that has played competitive sports all his life. He has developed the love for the game of softball while watching/coaching his daughter play. "If she was going to play he wanted to make sure she was coached on how to play both physically and mentally." He has been coaching softball since 2004. He has attended three, Softball at the Beach, Coaches Clinics in Myrtle Beach SC (2007, 2008,& 2009). All three years USA Olympic Coach Mike Candrea was a guest Speaker and presenter. He has coached at multiple age groups to include: the Crystal Coast Thunder HS team 2006 & 2007; Carolina Gators 18u: 2008 & 2009. In 2010 he assisted the NC Dominators Elite, out of Durham NC as the College Coach Liaison, and is currently coaching the 10U Crystal Coast Phantoms (formally the Tidal Wave) 2012 & 2013, He also is an Assistant Coach at Jacksonville HS 2011, 2012 & 2013.
He has been in coaching since 1999, he began coaching recreation softball. Interestingly in Va. Each school has a team, so in elementary school age, you play recreation ball for your school. So like middle and highs school here the children on your team are from that school. He enjoyed that quite a bit. When his family moved to the area, in 2003, he assisted coached as needed as positions were already filled. He began full time coaching again in 2007 with the Carolina Gators. As a Side not this is when Coach Jeff and he worked on a staff together in 2008/2009. In 2011 he started the Topsail Tidalwave for local players to participate, as there was a need. That team split at the end of the year with age differences and reformed under Coach Jeff the next year.
