The Del Val Golf Club is one of the oldest African American golf clubs in the United States. Del Val was founded in Philadelphia, PA in 1954 by founding members, Dr. Albert Gaskins, Dr. Nathaniel H. Copeland and Pierce "Ted" Ramsey Sr. The inception of Del Val began in the mid-fifties when the founding members contacted several of their former Howard University classmates who lived in the Washington metropolitan area. They expressed an interest to engage in some friendly golf matches pitting Philadelphia vs. Washington DC. From there, the Del Val Golf Club began and has grown. Today that tradition continues in our annual grudge match against the Washington DC and Northern Virginia chapters at the Ocean City Challenge-By-The-Sea Tournament...
