Brendan Boese

Brendan Boese, P.Eng., is the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Design Lead at Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE). Brendan has extensive working in the Energy industry as an electrical designer and an electrical engineer. In Brendan's role he has experienced working on varying project sizes. His skills include working on detailed design, facility modifications, facility reviews, FEED studies, on/off site construction support, construction management, commissioning & start-up, and troubleshooting. Brendan brings a dual-faceted approach as both a technologist and an engineer to his projects and team. His experience in field construction engineering support and management has given him a unique view and approach to problem solving. Brendan has been responsible for the implementation and success of GLE Unity, GLE's internal Engineering database system. Brendan continues to lead his team with new innovation and technologies.

Chris Kormos

Chris Kormos currently handles all aspects of the hiring, financial, strategic, and day-to-day management of the Drafting and Information Services teams at Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE). He has been with GLE since 1994 and his experience with the company in various roles has touched on numerous aspects of our daily operations and project work, with design and team leadership roles in our smaller project work, fast-track projects, revamp, green-field, and major capital projects. His technical expertise in design and IT systems has helped to modernize GLE's technology infrastructure and support our ongoing corporate drive to utilize the most effective tools on our customers' behalf. While his experience and role has been progressively more management-oriented over his time, his focus remains ensuring that his teams provide flexible, accountable, top quality service that deliver value for every hour spent. His distinct understanding of project efficiencies and effective teamwork, and a belief in the value of highly skilled, motivated team members, have helped to create a industry leading drafting design, drawing control, and information services teams of extremely high capability.

Clarke Ellis

Clarke Ellis, P.Eng., P.E., has been working at Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) since 2015, and since then has developed a strong, versatile group of Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation professionals, technologists, designers and drafters. The group has quickly, and successfully, taken on projects of all sizes and complexities within, from small to major capital projects, and from local to international projects. Clarke and his team have extensive experience in all facets of Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls and Automation, including large power plants, renewable energy, specialized instrumentation, and small to large control systems including DCS systems. He also has strong knowledge of project management, project drivers, and client priorities. This has enabled him to create a well-rounded team that will produce fit for purpose solutions for our clients, and meet our clients' needs in an efficient manner. Clarke's group can take projects from inception, through detailed design, construction, programming, commissioning and startup, and can then provide ongoing support for the various systems within the finished product including control and communications systems. Clarke is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and North Dakota, and is a responsible stamping engineer for GLE.

Doug MacKenzie

Doug MacKenzie, P.Eng, M.E., was the President and General Manager since the inception of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) until January, 2018. Doug has guided GLE's growth from a group of two engineers to a staff of over 200 today. With over 40 years of experience in process design, equipment sizing and selection, and gas processing facility start-up. Doug has mentored and developed staff that are now key personnel at GLE. A recognized expert in his field and guest speaker on a variety of petroleum engineering topics, Doug has given presentations on sweetening plant design and mixed refrigerant systems at AlChE (New Orleans), GPA (Denver) and CGPA (Calgary). Doug continues to provide corporate direction to GLE and is personally involved in the development of new emerging technologies.

Ian McKay

Ian McKay, Ph.D. (Chem.), is a dynamic and results-oriented technology expert and technical leader with 30 years' experience in the chemical and energy industries. Ian leads the team executing international projects. Ian has broad experience in project management working with multi-disciplinary teams, including vendors, customers, and joint venture partners to deliver new products and facilities, improved operations, and positive business contributions. Ian has authored over 100 technical reports and holds 36 patents from his research activities, earlier in his career. Ian has strong demonstrated accomplishments in process design, project engineering, and technical consulting (oil, gas, and liquids processing, and chemical catalysts and processes) for clients in North America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Jay Dhanjal

  • Mechanical Engineering Manager
Jay Dhanjal, P.Eng., is the Mechanical Engineering Manager at Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE), with over 18 years of experience in the oil & gas and manufacturing industry. His expertise has been utilized on various projects and his broad background includes mechanical team management, project and package management, facilities engineering, process and equipment design, piping design, stress analysis, CNC/CMC operation and programming, quality control, scheduling, cost estimating, purchasing, assembly line design, and reverse engineering. He is responsible for overseeing and supervising GLE's mechanical engineering department.

John Carroll

John Carroll, Ph.D., P. Eng., has more than thirty years of experience in the areas of thermodynamics, phase equilibria, physical property calculations and is acutely familiar with acid gas systems and natural gas hydrates. He provides Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) with a leading edge theoretical understanding of the key processes in gas processing. He has authored or co-authored 50 papers in technical journals and has contributed to 60 conference presentations. He has taught courses at the University level and to practicing engineers in Canada and throughout the world. John has published "Natural Gas Hydrates: A Guide for Engineers" and "Acid Gas Injection and Carbon Dioxide Sequestration". He is the author of the renowned software AQUAlibrium that is widely accepted in industry as the best available for equilibria in acid gas water systems.

Justin Wagner

Justin Wagner, P.Eng, leads the Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) Facilities Group with over 10 years of industry experience. He has served both technical and management roles on a wide variety of natural gas, liquids recovery and conventional oil projects. His experience specifically includes a number of schedule-constrained ‘fast-execution' projects. Justin is proficient in equipment sizing and selection, process development and overview, scheduling, estimating, customer liaison and construction management.

Krzysztof Dobrzanski

  • Process Engineering Lead
Krzysztof Dobrzanski, P.Eng., has 16 years of industry experience and has been working for Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE) since 2004. His engineering skills include problem solving, debottlenecking and new equipment specification. He also has experience working with brown field facilities as well as in conceptual plant design, PFD and P&ID development, control philosophy development and equipment sizing. Krzysztof has sound experience in the following areas of design: sweet and sour gas plants, turbo-expander and refrigeration projects as well as liquids fractionation. Sophisticated and optimized plant design prepared by the process engineering group can be of great benefit to our clients.

Mike Richardson

Mike Richardson, P.Eng., has over 30 years of experience in all facets of the oil and gas industry, including 20 years devoted to compressor design, manufacturing, sales, installation and operation. Mike currently leads Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd's (GLE's) dedicated compression team. Clients benefit from his experience on a range of projects requiring his talents in project management, detailed engineering, construction, field supervision and maintenance. From costing, through to construction and start-up, Mike has an exceptional track record in turnkey project execution, facilities optimization and upgrading, and removing production bottlenecks.

Omar Ali

(Eng.), is the Instrumentation Engineering Lead at Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE), with the majority of his experience in the Energy sector. Omar graduated from SAIT in the field of Industrial Instrumentation Engineering Technology. Omar is a registered Professional Licensee in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and is a Responsible Member/Registrant for GLE in both Alberta and British Columbia. Omar's core competencies include project coordination, conceptual design, cost estimating, detailed design, plant additions, grass roots and brown field plant construction, construction management, mentorship, commissioning and start-up. Omar has technical expertise in all facets of instrumentation and controls, including specialized instrumentation, flow measurement and regulatory requirements, analytical equipment, and small to large control systems including PLC and DCS.

Paul Murphy

Paul Murphy, P.Eng., is the Electrical Engineering Lead at Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE). Paul has extensive Electrical Engineering and System Design experience, and is a registered P.Eng. in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan. He is also a Responsible Member/Registrant for GLE in both Alberta and British Columbia. Paul is technically experienced in power generation, medium and low voltage system design, and PLC and DCS-based control systems. Paul has contributed to the success of many of GLE's projects including Brownfield and Greenfield projects from FEED to detailed design. Paul's core competencies also include estimating, construction management, commissioning and start-up. Before working in the Energy industry, Paul supported the mobile technology industry as a Systems Engineer. His background in innovation brings a valued approach to both his team and clients. As a team leader, Paul conveys strong communication, integrity, and technical support to the EIC division.

Ramon Salazar

Ramon Salazar, P.Eng., has over 35 years of experience in civil and structural engineering. Ramon is presently the lead of the Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd's (GLE's) Civil/Structural Engineering Team. He has a long history of concrete structural design for residential and commercial projects and the last ten years designing steel and concrete structures for oil and gas industry. This includes shallow and deep foundations for buildings, tanks (up to 150k bbl.), equipment (including vibrating equipment), pipe racks and miscellaneous steel. Ramon has sound background in multidisciplinary work environment and ability to work in fast paced and challenging schedules, caring for the different pieces of the project in order to meet deadlines. He is always open to discuss, analyze and look for the best solution that is suitable to client expectations.

Ryan Arnold

Ryan Arnold, P.Eng., has over 15 years of Project Manager/Project Engineer experience. Ryan's pragmatic style has been essential to achieving success on major LPG export terminals, NGL facilities, gas plants, and compression projects, including the Gold Creek Gas Plant and the Wolf Carbon Solutions ACTL facilities projects, the largest CO 2 project ever undertaken in Alberta. Ryan has developed a broad range of experience through his work on a variety of facilities projects including gas plants, compressor installations, fractionation train upgrades, oil batteries, carbon capture, and LPG storage facilities. Ryan builds client trust by delivering quality engineering and pragmatic solutions to technical problems and management challenges. He has a background in compressor design, packaging, process engineering and small project management in addition to his considerable major project experience. Ryan is a Professional Engineer registered in Alberta and British Columbia.

Stuart MacKenzie - CEO

Stuart MacKenzie, P.Eng., is the CEO of Gas Liquids Engineering Ltd. (GLE). Stuart brings over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and has had roles as a vice president, project manager, project engineer, and process engineer. Stuart has been involved with projects ranging from small well tie-ins to major gas plants, condensate processing, gas storage, power generation, nitrogen rejection, and pipelines. Stuart has a broad base of project experience which allows for highly effective project scoping, costing, and detailing of engineering manpower requirements. By involving the key project team members right at the proposal stage of a project, Stuart ensures that GLE's teams are fully aligned with the project goals from the outset of the project, until start-up. Stuart works actively to position our clients for the greatest possible success, including the arrangement of strategic alliances for multiple projects, or the development planning and execution of entire resource areas.
