Colleen Goodell Knecht

Colleen Goodell Knecht practices in the areas of real estate transactions, real estate finance and corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Knecht's real estate work includes the representation of clients in the acquisition, development and disposition of commercial real estate, including mixed-use residential and commercial high-rise condominium developments. Her experience in mergers and acquisitions includes the representation of sellers and buyers of both public and private companies and her corporate experience includes representation of both for-profit and non-profit entities. Ms. Knecht is also knowledgeable in the areas of negotiation, drafting and implementation of commercial leases as well as real estate and asset-based lending transactions. Ms. Knecht's lending practice includes representation of borrowers, banks, credit unions, life companies and private lenders in all phases of loan and loan modification transactions. She additionally represents lenders and borrowers in restructuring financial transactions. Prior to forming Gibson Knecht PC, Ms. Knecht was a founding shareholder at Zwillinger Greek Knecht & Gibson PC, where she worked from 2004 to 2018.

James S. Gibson

James S. Gibson's practice focuses on real estate transactions, with an emphasis on purchase and sale transactions; options; commercial leasing; real estate secured loans; easements and licenses; and the planning and development of commercial and residential properties. Mr. Gibson advises property owners, developers, builders, investors, landlords, tenants, lenders and owners' associations in real estate issues including the preparation and negotiation of purchase/sale, lease and option contracts, easements, loan documents, development agreements, CCRs and condominium documents, title insurance, and contractor, broker and management agreements. Prior to forming Gibson Knecht PC, Mr. Gibson was a shareholder at Zwillinger Greek Knecht & Gibson PC from 2014 to 2018. Mr. Gibson was a principal at the Phoenix office of Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP from 2010 to 2014, and a partner at the boutique real estate law firm of Lisker, Page & Gibson PLLC from 2005 to 2010. Mr. Gibson began his legal career as an associate attorney at the Phoenix office of Bryan Cave LLP from 1999 to 2005. A native Arizonan, Mr. Gibson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Regional Development, magna cum laude, from the University of Arizona. Mr. Gibson received his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in Spokane, Washington, where he graduated magna cum laude. He is an active member of the State Bar of Arizona and the State Bar of New Mexico. Mr. Gibson has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2013, and has been named a Southwest Super Lawyer since 2017. In 2012, he was honored as one of Arizona's Finest Lawyers for his demonstrated record of high achievement, legal skills and well-earned reputation for integrity.

R. Colby Larson

Colby Larson's practice is concentrated on commercial real estate and business transactions. He advises all types of clients, including, homebuilders, developers, investors, borrowers and lenders, in all stages of real estate transactions, development matters, secured financing transactions (including refinancing) and business transactions. Colby's experience includes preparing and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, option agreements, commercial leases, joint development agreements, easements, real estate backed loan documents, entity formation documents and corporate documents. Colby advises clients on the planning, development and formation of master planned communities, shopping centers and commercial and residential developments. He also regularly counsels associations and developers in forming and drafting condominium documents, CCRs and other community governance documents. Prior to joining Gibson Knecht PC as a shareholder, Colby worked as a senior real estate associate at a mid-size Phoenix based law firm, and as a real estate associate at large, international law firm. Colby has also served as a legal intern at one of the nation's largest providers of title insurance and escrow services, where he drafted research memoranda, complaints and motions related to title disputes.
