Aaliyah Corona is a Pre-Health Team Peer Advisor and will be a junior this year studying Pre-Radiology. After the Radiology program Aaliyah plans to apply to the Sonography program here at Boise State University with hopes of a career in Medical Imaging as an Ultrasound Technician! Adrian Quiroz, BS, BAS, AAS is an Instructional Technologist 2 at Boise State University School of Nursing. Quiroz started his technology career in 1998 completing his BS degree in Computer Science Engineering in Mexico and continuing his education at Boise State University to earn his BAS and AAS degrees in Computer Network Technology in 2008.
In 2002, Quiroz moved to Boise to join the local IT industry providing different levels of computer support, software installation, SAAS solutions, and hardware repairs for state and private institutions. For five years, Quiroz worked providing support to national and international agencies in Europe, Africa, South & Central America while supervising Managed Print Services Enhance Technology from Boise, Idaho.
In 2017, Quiroz decided to join the teaching workforce to make a more meaningful difference in the life of others. After additional training, Quiroz become Certified as a Technical Educator and endorsed to teach Network Technologies and Computer Support Technologies. For the past three and a half years, Quiroz facilitated educational opportunities for the residents of the Idaho Department of Corrections in basic computer literacy, career planning and technical certificates such as IC3, Microsoft Office specialists and AutoCAD.
In the twenty-four years of working in technology and now education, Quiroz continues to work on staying abreast of his field by seeking opportunities for continuing education. In his free time, Quiroz enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and son and working on his 1975 VW bus named Mia.

Andrea Milojevic, Clinical Assistant Professor of the School of Nursing at Boise State University, joined the School of Nursing as an adjunct clinical faculty member in 2014.
In addition to working for Boise State University, Milojevic currently works in the Level II Trauma Emergency Department at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. Milojevic's primary nursing focus is medical, having worked five and a half years for the medical/oncology unit at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center prior to her current role in the Emergency Department. She maintains certifications in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
Milojevic earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Carroll College, located in Helena, Montana. Additionally, she earned a Master's of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University. Milojevic is interested in helping others and has participated in several international medical mission trips: a poverty alleviation trip to Mexico in 2003 and a medical support trip to Ecuador in 2014.
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Angela received her undergraduate degree in Biology. She worked in biology research and spent one year working as a nurse assistant. After tutoring math and sciences at several colleges, she was hired as a Simulation/ Nursing Lab Technician at a community college in New Mexico.
She became a Simulation Specialist in 2015 and earned her Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist designation in 2018. She moved to Idaho and joined the Boise State simulation team in July 2019. Along the way, Angela earned a certificate in Technical Writing.
She likes simulation as the cross between three of her interests: education, technology and health. She enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.

April Howell, DNP, RN, joined the School of Nursing in 2021 as a clinical assistant professor. Dr. Howell has extensive nursing leadership experience and is a motivational mentor who prioritizes relationship building and creative problem-solving. Her clinical experience has been in the ambulatory setting, including family medicine and neuroscience.
Dr. Howell received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Grand Canyon University, where her doctoral project focused on the impact of a structured telephone communication on the patient no-show rate in a specialty outpatient clinic. Dr. Howell received her Master of Science in Nursing, with an emphasis in leadership in healthcare systems, from Grand Canyon University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boise State University and an Associate of Science in Nursing from Idaho State University.
Dr. Howell's practice interests are focused on nursing leadership and the role that plays in providing quality patient care and overcoming challenges such as health literacy. In addition, she supports student-centered quality education outside of the classroom during "real world" experiences.
Dr. Howell is a native of Idaho and grew up in the Treasure Valley. She enjoys everything outdoors and appreciates all that Idaho has to offer.
Archer Ward joined the School of Nursing in May of 2022 as their Recruiter. Archer received his bachelor's degree in Health Science Studies from Boise State in 2021. He was a member of the honors college and was an active member in the campus community. During his time as an undergraduate, he worked as an Orientation Leader and Coordinator in the New Student Transition & Family Connections office. He also worked as a pre-nursing peer advisor within the College of Health Sciences academic advising office. Archer is very passionate about student affairs and helping students feel a part of the Boise State community is a huge priority for him. He is very outgoing and welcomes the opportunity to build new connections with anyone. Outside of the office, Archer enjoys rock climbing, skiing, and reading.

Hello, My name is Ava Farahany, RN, MSN/Ed from Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm an online faculty with the RN-BS Nursing Program and have been teaching with Boise State's Nursing program since 2009. I graduated in 1997 with my BSN from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA and my MSN/Ed from the University of Phoenix in 2004. I have worked in several different capacities (bedside, management, staff educator, clinical adjunct faculty, & CNS) at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. I moved to Seattle, WA in 2011 (for my husband's job) and moved back home to Charlotte, NC in January of 2016.
Personally, I am married and have a vivacious little boy that keeps us on our toes. We love spending time together as a family and love anything outdoors.

Britta Ernst is a transplant from the Midwest. She graduated from the University of Kansas with her Bachelor's degrees in Spanish and Geography. After traversing the United States and South America for a few years, she settled back in Kansas where she worked as an academic advisor for the University of Kansas. She loved working with the students to help them achieve their goals. After a little more than 3 years, she moved to Boise, Idaho where she worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho. Two little boys and 7 years later, she is excited to be working in higher education again. Charles White, M.A., is an East Texas transplant who joins us after teaching and advising at Stephen F. Austin (SFA) State University for six years. Charles earned both a bachelor's and master's degree in psychology from SFA as well as published their master's thesis, College students' acceptance of trans women and trans men in gendered spaces: The role of physical appearance, in the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Social Services. Charles is excited to continue advising, educating, empowering, and advocating for students as an academic advisor in the College of Health Sciences. Outside of work, Charles enjoys spending time with their partner, catching up on the latest season of RuPaul's Drag Race, and relaxing with their animals (one rabbit, two dogs, four frogs, fifteen fish, and one crawdad). He is an internationally known and respected clinician who has extensive research expertise in training and retaining physicians in rural and underserved areas, the development of rural communities' healthcare resources, and quality improvement in rural healthcare. He has published and presented extensively on his research. He practices as a family physician and teaches at the UND SMHS. He assumed the position in October 2016.
At the UND SMHS, Dr. Schmitz works collaboratively with the faculty and institutional leaders to build upon the School's strong nationally recognized rural medicine program. As chair, he works with the SMHS's clinical partners to innovatively meet the need for education and training of current and future health professionals to effectively serve rural and underserved areas of the state.
Schmitz earned his medical doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed his residency training at the Family Medicine Residency of Idaho in Boise. Schmitz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, where he has been a diplomate since 1999. He is currently president of the National Rural Health Association. He is the founding chair of the American Academy of Family Physician Member Interest Group on Rural Health. He also serves the academy through its Commission on Quality and Practice, and previously the Commission on Education. Schmitz is an Advisory Council member for the National Rural Health Resource Center, Technical Assistance and Service Center. He is an executive committee member of the Global Association of Family Doctors (WONCA) Working Party on Rural Health.

Jensine Gropp is a native Idahoan from Boise. She is currently a sophomore at Boise State University working towards getting my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Helping others is one of her favorite things to do, and she is very excited to incorporate that into a lifelong career. This semester Jensine is participating in the Work U program with Sunderlin Behavioral Interventions to understand and learn more about behavioral analysis through direct interventions, social skills, and life coaching. She is also in the Boise State choir! Keenan is originally from Eastern Oregon, having grown up in a small rural community. While growing up, he participated in community groups and activities such as FFA and Boy Scouts. Upon completing High School, Keenan went to Treasure Valley Community College, a first-generation college student, and earned his Associate of Fine Arts Degree. Afterward, Keenan transferred to Boise State University to further his education.
Keenan is now a junior here at Boise State University working on completing a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in rehabilitation science. He plans to attend graduate school and enroll in a Physical Therapy program to earn his Master's and later become a physical therapist. Keenan is passionate about helping others and fostering community, which is reflected in his participation in the school's Pride Alliance, where he has acted as the club's Vice President for the 2022 Spring Semester. Outside of school, Keenan continues to help others through his work volunteering at the local Red Cross.
Outside of studying, school activities, and volunteer work, Keenan spends his free time enjoying the outdoors whenever he can, working out frequently, skiing in the winter, and wakeboarding in the summer. Mary Crowell earned her PhD at Washington State in Education with a specialization in Cultural Studies and Social Thought where she was also a McNair Fellow. Prior, she earned her Bachelors' degrees from the University of Idaho in Sociology and Psychology. Crowell is a proud first-generation college student. She is passionate about helping all students actualize their goals through an advising philosophy that encourages stepping out of one's comfort zone, developing a network of supportive relationships, and funneling one's passions into a meaningful academic experience.
Currently, Crowell directs the Student Services and Academic Advising (SSAA) Office for the College of Health Sciences - an office that connects with over two thousand students per year. Services offered involve academic advising, first year and transfer orientations, registration and enrollment in classes, four year academic plans, career planning, pre-professional advising and more within the Health Sciences. SSAA collaborates with multiple partners within, across, and outside of the institution, community, and state in recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts.
Crowell has taught courses ranging from educational psychology, introduction to research, and special topics on intersections within diversity and education. She has multiple years of experience working with special populations and federal grants where she advised for multiple TRIO programs and implemented and managed the College Assistance Migrant Program at Lewis-Clark State College. Her scholarly interests lie in using cultural and psycho-social frameworks to help students find a sense of belonging and promote agency in their educational experiences.
Growing up in the mountains of rural, northern Idaho, Crowell enjoys the water and appreciates the diverse settings of Idaho and its people. When she is not working with her Boise State team, Crowell enjoys spending time with her two kids, practicing yoga, and laughing with good friends and family.

Patricia K. Flanigan has worked in higher education for over 28 years. She holds a doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of La Verne as well as an M.A. in Latin American Studies and B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Before retiring and moving to Idaho in 2015, she served as the dean of online education and learning resources at a large community college in Southern California. She currently consults in higher education, volunteers for AARP, writes for a local magazine, and serves as an affiliate faculty member at Boise State University. Since February 2017, she has been the founding director for Smart Strategies for Successful Living, a community-based website designed to promote quality aging. As an educator, her focus is to inspire others to live and age well.

Sandina spent several years conducting fieldwork in Bosnia and Herzegovina, during which time she also worked as a researcher at a local research and policy foundation and supervised research projects conducted by students from several U.S. universities during their semester abroad in the Balkans. Since joining the Center for Health Policy, she has been involved in a number of research projects focused primarily on mental health and substance abuse in at-risk youth and the effects of home visiting as an early intervention strategy in promoting maternal, infant, and early childhood health and development.
