Janet L. Wright is a principal in the Fresno law firm of Law Offices of Janet L. Wright, APC. Mrs. Wright received her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Editor-in-Chief of the Southern California Law Review. Mrs. Wright was a judicial clerk for Justice William O. Douglas of the U.S. Supreme Court and Justice Raymond Peters of the California Supreme Court. Mrs. Wright has extensive experience in estate planning, taxation, and general business transactions, with an emphasis on planning for closely-held businesses and charitable planning. She represents a wide variety of entities, including growers, packers, and shippers of agricultural products, and both private and supporting foundations. Mrs. Wright has written articles for and has spoken before such national and local groups as the UCLA-CEB Advanced Estate Planning Institute, University of Southern California Tax Institute, the National Business Institute, the California State Bar Tax Section, the American Bar Association and the California Education of the Bar. She has served on the law faculties at the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles and Davis, where she taught a variety of courses, including estate planning, taxation, agricultural law, community property, and non-profit institutions. She was Editor of the Community Property Journal and Alert from 1986 through 1989. Mrs. Wright served as a member of the California State Bar Association Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section from 1981 through 1990, and as Editor of the Section Newsletter from 1987 through 1989. She is the past Chair of the California State Bar Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Advisory Commission to the Board of Legal Specialization and the American Bar Association's Real Property and Probate Section Sub-Committee on Community Property. She served as Chair of the UCLA/CEB Advanced Estate Planning Institute from 1999 through 2005. Mrs. Wright is a member of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel. She has been AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell since 1986.
