Amy Levine

Amy joined LCL in 2023. As Director of Programs and Volunteers, Amy coordinates our organization's educational programming as well as contributions to our organization from across the Massachusetts legal profession. Amy Levine has over 20 years working in the legal industry including working at Goulston & Storrs and Hale and Dorr (currently WilmerHale) and spent the last 15 years working as a vice president and legal recruiter at one of the top legal staffing firms in New England. She has experience in recruiting, coaching, counseling, professional development, and career management. She has presented at Boston University Paralegal Certificate program, the Massachusetts Paralegal Association and resume workshops. Additionally, she has coached Attorneys, Paralegals and Business Professionals on resume writing, job search techniques, and other elements of this process to find their ideal job. She received her Master of Social Work degree from Boston University and has dedicated her career to improving people's lives.

Barbara J. Bowe

Barbara joined LCL in 1996. As a Staff Clinician, she meets with clients regularly, leads groups, sources information, and makes presentations to the legal community. Read more about Barb here. Barbara J. Bowe, LICSW joined LCL in 1996. Barbara handles client assessments, referrals, and case management. She also acts as a liaison with the Deans of Massachusetts' nine law schools. Barbara has coordinated and been involved in training programs for a range of segments of the Bar: Judges, MBA, BBA Peer Support Program, Bar Advocate Programs, LCL Monitor Program, and Professional Responsibility Classes. She is a 1985 graduate of Boston University School of Social Work. Barbara has managed both inpatient and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs in Greater Boston, most recently at Westwood Lodge Hospital just prior to coming to LCL. She has worked in both in-house and offsite employee assistance programs, and has maintained a private practice for many years in Brookline, MA. Barbara runs our Professional Conduct Group, Law School Deans Roundtable, as well as office hours and groups at Massachusetts law schools. David Rosenblatt - Treasurer

Dr. Jeff Fortgang

Dr. Jeff Fortgang graduated Yale in 1971, and, after a few years as a musician/songwriter, completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology (from Adelphi University) in 1980. His dissertation, internship, and fellowship focused on treatment of alcoholism. Jeff has held positions at Mass. General, Mt. Auburn, Newton-Wellesley, and McLean Hospitals, worked with various employee assistance programs, and directed programs at Westwood Lodge Hospital and Bay Colony/Spofford Hall Outpatient Services. A former Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry of Harvard Medical School (1993-2016), he has been in his half-time LCL role since 1998. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and the National Register of Healthcare Providers in Psychology, and Mass.-licensed as both a psychologist and alcohol/drug counselor. His private practice office is in Newton Highlands. In addition to seeing clients at LCL, he also writes articles and makes presentations in the community. He is also the coauthor of the book The Full Weight of the Law: How Legal Professionals Can Recognize and Rebound from Depression (ABA publication, 2017 - available in our lending library) with another LCL Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Shawn Healy. Dr. Shawn Healy

Dr. Shawn Healy joined LCL in March of 2014 following his work in a private group practice in Cambridge. Shawn serves on the Massachusetts SJC Standing Advisory Committee on Professionalism, as well as on the Massachusetts Bar Association's Lawyer Well-Being Committee (2020-2022). Prior to private practice, Shawn worked at May Institute, Inc. for 10 years where he initially completed his pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship. He later became the Clinical Director and finally the Director of Clinical Services and Operations for the Behavioral Health Division of May Institute where he managed two outpatient clinics and four day treatment programs. Shawn graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, MA in 2006 with his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. His dissertation and research interests are in the field of conflict resolution and he has been involved in facilitating many conflict resolution workshops, discussion groups, and mediation and private conflict coaching sessions. Shawn is a member of the American Psychological Association and of the Massachusetts Psychological Association, and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a psychologist. Shawn coauthored the book The Full Weight of the Law: How Legal Professionals Can Recognize and Rebound from Depression (ABA publication, 2017 - available in our lending library) with another LCL Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Jeff Fortgang. Dr. Tracey Meyers

Dr. Tracey Meyers joined LCL in 2020 following her work for the State of Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services where she spent over 17 years working as a clinical neuropsychologist and most recently as the director of behavioral intervention services for inpatient services. In addition to her over 25 years of neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy experience, Tracey has a strong commitment to integrative medicine for mental health and wellness and leads mindfulness and yoga programs for groups, individuals, and professionals in the workplace. Tracey graduated from Skidmore College in 1992 and completed her doctorate in clinical psychology from Florida Tech in 1997. She completed her internship and post-doctoral training in neuropsychology at the Miami VA and University of Miami. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the National Association of Neuropsychology, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the National Register of Healthcare Providers in Psychology. Tracey is a licensed clinical psychologist in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York. In addition, she is an advanced yoga teacher, certified yoga therapist, and an instructor in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindful-Self Compassion, Breath-Body-Mind, and Integrative Restoration (iRest). Tracey has authored several publications including articles and book chapters around integrative medicine, positive behavioral support treatment for different mental health conditions, and developing collaborative relationships in healthcare settings. Tracey is the author of the book, Yin Yoga Therapy and Mental Health, a guide for well-being using the healing practices of yoga and meditation. Tracey runs our SuperMom Support Group, Weekly Yoga for Busy Legal Professionals, Weekly, and Mindfulness For Busy Legal Professionals as well as office hours and groups at Massachusetts law schools. She is responsible for human resources, office administration, policy and procedures, and financial administration. Additionally, she provides executive assistance to the Executive Director.  Prior to joining LCL, Fallon worked as a meeting and events coordinator for a large national bank where she gained valuable experience developing managerial and leadership skills.

Luz Carrion

Luz joined LCL in May 2023 as a Senior Law Practice Advisor, a role that requires her to meet regularly with clients, develop programs, write articles, make presentations to the legal community, as well as act as a mentor. Luz joined LCL in May 2023 as a Senior Law Practice Advisor, a role that requires her to meet regularly with clients, develop programs, write articles, make presentations to the legal community, as well as act as a mentor. Before joining LCL, Luz served as an Investigator and Assistant Bar Counsel at the Office of Bar Counsel (OBC) of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers (BBO). In the latter role, she screened and resolved complaints that came to the OBC's Attorney and Consumer Assistance Program (ACAP) alleging attorney misconduct. Luz also previously served as Complaint Counsel at the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine, where she investigated and litigated complaints involving physicians and acupuncturists. In these roles, she developed expertise and insight into ethical, regulatory, and practice issues affecting these professionals. She also recognized the impact of mental health or behavioral issues on their practices. Luz's government and administrative law experience also includes serving as a Hearings Officer at the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. In that role, she held administrative hearings involving primarily drivers' license suspensions. As with prior roles, Luz had to consider and address mental health or behavioral concerns that were relevant to drivers' license suspensions. Luz clerked for the Massachusetts Juvenile Court after earning her Juris Doctor from New England Law Boston in 2004. Luz loves spending time with her family in Massachusetts and in her homeland-Puerto Rico.

Rachel Casper

Rachel joined LCL in 2010. As Director of Strategic Operations & Marketing, she coordinates LCLMA's services helping Massachusetts lawyers, law students, judges, and other legal professionals, as well as the organization's strategic planning and operations. As Director of Strategic Operations & Marketing, Rachel coordinates LCLMA's efforts to engage lawyers and law students in Massachusetts with the free & confidential services we offer. She works on making LCLMA's client services and resources as accessible, effective, and enjoyable as possible to help those in the legal profession manage a fulfilling quality of life and rewarding career, and coordinates strategic planning efforts along with key operations for the organization. Rachel joined LCLMA in 2010 as the admin for LCL's practice management services, shortly after quitting law school in the middle of her third year at the University of Connecticut, following an award-winning performance that culminated in compromised mental health. Prior to joining LCL, Rachel spent 7 years over her academic career interning in the corporate legal department of the world's then-reigning largest employee-owned corporation, where she pioneered technology implementations to facilitate in-house legal operations, never stopping to get approval first. She graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Politics from Saint Anselm College, where she was inducted into a few honors associations represented by various Greek letters and received a High Pass distinction on her thesis, which she wrote on the effects of patent law policy on research and development. At Saint Anselm, she was a 2-year co-captain of the debate team, receiving a variety of awards over her four years of competition in the National Forensic Association's Lincoln-Douglas policy debate circuit.

Stacey A. L. Best

Stacey joined LCL in 2021. As Executive Director, she leads our strategic development, oversees daily operations, and works with the leaders in the legal community to improve mental health and well-being throughout the Massachusetts legal profession. Stacey joined LCL in 2021 as the Executive Director and, in that role is responsible for the strategic direction, daily operation, and management of the staff of both LCL and LOMAP. Stacey represents and participates with key stakeholders at various agencies and Committees of the Supreme Judicial Court (SJC), including the SJC Standing Committee on Lawyer Well-Being, the BBO, and the Standing Advisory Committee on Professionalism to improve the quality of the legal profession. Stacey joined LCL after spending 18 years with the Board of Bar Overseers (BBO) and the Office of Bar Counsel (OBC). Most recently Stacey served as the Acting Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the BBO, a newly created role. At the BBO, Stacey investigated alleged violations of the Rules of Professional Conduct and litigated all stages of the disciplinary proceedings including all appeals. Stacey began her career as a staff attorney in the trial division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS). She tried cases at the district and superior court levels representing indigent clients charged with felonies. Stacey is also a former clinical instructor at the Criminal Justice Institute (CJI) at Harvard Law School, where several of her students tried cases. Stacey enjoys mentoring and teaching in a variety of settings including CLE, bar associations and law schools. Stacey is a "transplant" from California to the Boston, Massachusetts area. She is a 1995 graduate of the Boston College School of Law.
