John Lockwood Carhart is an architect with over 30 years of professional experience with complex and design-oriented projects across the United States. Earning his degree in architecture from the University of Oregon in 1991, John started his career in Chicago with Krueck & Sexton Architects, known for their highly refined and meticulously detailed modernism. Joining Allied Works Architecture in 1997, John served as the primary designer and project architect on several award-winning commercial projects. Relocating to New York City in 2000, John served as a project architect with the firm of Richard Meier & Partners, where he was involved with a variety of commercial, residential and cultural projects in the United States and abroad. With ZGF Architects in Portland from 2008 to 2014, John was an Associate Partner where he led the design effort on such award-winning buildings as the Health Sciences Biomedical Research Facility at UC San Diego, The Bioengineering & Sciences Building at UT Dallas, and the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute Masterplan, among others. John is a licensed architect in the state of Oregon and New York. He is a member of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
