The Thrombosis Program is designed and dedicated to provide outstanding, patient-centered care to patients with venous thromboembolism in British Columbia. Affiliated with Vancouver Coastal Health and the University of British Columbia, the Thrombosis Program is dedicated to educating patients, families, and primary care physicians on venous thromboembolism... Thrombosis is the medical term used to describe a blood clot. Blood clotting is a normal process that occurs in the human body to stop bleeding. When blood changes from liquid form to solid or semi-solid form, it forms a clot... We conduct clinical trials of drugs and interventions that help improve the care and outcomes for patients with venous thromboembolism. Patients who come to the thrombosis clinic may have an opportunity to participate in clinical trials. Our physicians and research nurses help identify patients who may qualify to participate in a clinical trial.
