Established in 1983, Uyetake, Uyetake & Associates is one of Hawaii's oldest and most respected residential real estate appraisal firms servicing the island of Oahu. Founded by Sidney Uyetake, he named the company in honor of his late father, Shigeki Uyetake, who passed away shortly before Sidney began the company. Shigeki had been in the real estate business for several years. The first "Uyetake" in the company name, is in honor of Sidney's father. Sidney opened up the company in the summer of 1983 with his wife, Diane, as a temporary secretary who was also a Punahou teacher. She gave him three months - her summer break - and if the company could survive then they would hire a secretary.
