Jane Devonshire

Jane Devonshire was crowned MasterChef 2016 Champion in the twelfth series of the hugely popular BBC One series. Mother of four, Jane 56, battled her way through an incredible seven weeks of seriously intense challenges including: cooking with rising British star, chef Michael O'Hare; travelling to Mexico to cook with Enrique Olvera; cooking for Daniel Humm one of the world's most influential culinary talents, and an extraordinary final cook-off where she wowed judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace with her childhood-inspired menu which consisted of a Winkle starter, Indian-inspired Sunday Roast Lamb, and Rhubarb and Custard dessert. Stay-at-home mum Jane's passion for cooking started when she young and was central to her upbringing. She came from a family of cooks with her nanny Pearce inspiring her with her beautiful cakes and dishes, while her mother is a fabulous cook of really traditional food and her dad, who always worked in food sales, would bring home different and interesting foods. Cooking for her family is an absolutely solid and integral part to Jane's life and she loves creating recipes for her family and friends. It was her youngest son, Ben, who encouraged her to enter the competition. Jane loves working in food and now develops recipes and creates menus for corporate clients. Jane regularly demonstrates at cookery shows around the country and abroad including Good Food Show. Her first book, Hassle Free Gluten Free was published in 2018. Her second, Vegetarian Hassle Free Gluten Free was published in 2020. Chefs Jane has worked with include Gordon Ramsey, Michelle Roux Jr, Jason Atherton, Atul Kochhar, Marcus Wareing & many more. She is often to be seen doing numerous pop up events & catering for famous clients including a stint running the Pop Up restaurant at the famous Lymington Food Festival this year. JANE PARKINSON

Winner of the IWSC Communicator of the Year 2014 and as wine expert on BBC's Saturday Kitchen Live, Jane's bubbly and fun approach has also made her is one of the UK's youngest award-winning wine writers. Her relaxed but authoritative approach gives her the flexibility to be able to explain wine to everyone - from the everyday tone required for her column in the UK's biggest read women's magazine, Tesco Magazine and Stylist - to those who look for a more specialist approach, as shown with her work in The Financial Times How To Spend It. Jane's permanently husky tone shows just how much she loves to talk about wine in person, which is why she's in demand as a host of private wine tastings, wine master classes at fairs, trips to winemaking regions for private members' clubs and as host at her own series of events with The Wine Gang, a group in which she is one of five revered UK wine critics who come together to review 200 wines every month. She frequently judges at international wine competitions and has been at the Chair of Judges for the national sommelier and chef (food and wine matching) competition, the Rising Stars Trophy. Last year Jane launched her own website www.janeparkinson.com to provide weekly wine recommendations, blog her heart out and generally have an outlet for her to talk all things wine or wine and food. Her first book, Wine & Food, was published in 2014. It has now been updated and republished as Wine in Spring 2019.

LAURA MEYER

Laura Meyer is a Geordie home cook and creator of the blog ‘Skinny Kitchen Secrets', a website packed with gourmet healthy recipes for the food loving dieter. By her own admission, Laura is a northern lass with an obsession for creating exciting, healthy and delicious food. Back in 2012, Laura decided it was time for a change in her life, time to lose the weight that she had steadily been gaining and keep it off for good. With socialising with family and friends an integral part of her life, Laura didn't want to stop hosting meals or catching up with friends over dinner and after signing up to Weight Watchers, Laura realised that she didn't have to. Through the plan, she discovered that she could combine her love and passion for good food and cooking with her new diet to produce tasty and filling meals for herself, family and friends, whilst still losing or maintaining her weight. Through creating and consuming her own recipes, Laura quickly realised that by using a select few tricks, a few small substitutions and eating the right amount of certain foods, she could have the most fabulous meals without feeling like she was missing out on anything. On her journey Laura became familiar with many exciting ingredients and is an expert at recreating meals from her favourite restaurants and eateries whilst eradicating the 'guilt' factor from meals which she once thought would be off limits. Nine years later and now a new mum, Laura still loves experimenting with new flavours and ingredients in the kitchen, creating recipes which the whole family can enjoy together: Laura can continue with her weight loss and maintenance whilst ensuring that her little boy is happy, healthy, and a fan of food inspired by flavours all over the world! Skinny Kitchen Secrets features a range of pointed recipes and ideas for your enjoyment but you don't need to be on Weight Watchers to follow the recipes as they can easily be adapted for any other plan. Equally, even if you aren't looking to lose weight, Laura's recipes don't taste like ‘diet' food, so if you just want to try some healthier meals, her recipes are perfect for you.
