Bruce Hedman

Bruce Hedman, Managing Director of Entropy Research, LLC, has over 35 years of experience in energy technology research, development and commercialization, and is a recognized authority in combined heat and power (CHP) technologies, markets and policies. He has worked extensively with public and private clients to analyze the opportunity for new distributed generation technologies and identify regulatory and institutional hurdles to market development. He has provided technical support and strategic guidance to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Combined Heat and Power Partnership and the U.S. Department of Energy's CHP Technology Partnership program. He has worked with a variety of states analyzing the opportunities for and barriers to CHP and distributed generation. Prior to Entropy Research, Dr. Hedman was Technical Director at the Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP), promoting greenhouse gas reductions through energy efficiency and clean energy programs targeted at industrial energy users in China and the U.S. He was a Vice President at ICF International and led the firm's CHP consulting services practice in distributed generation practice from 2001 to 2013. Dr. Hedman started his career at the Gas Research Institute in Chicago, holding a variety of research management positions in power generation, alternative fueled vehicles and industrial end-use. Dr. Hedman is a past chairman of the United States Combined Heat and Power Association, a USCHPA CHP Champion, and an inductee in the American Gas Association's Industrial and Commercial Hall of Flame. He was named a 2015 Champion of Energy Efficiency by ACEEE for his career-long commitment to industrial energy efficiency and CHP, and received the 2016 CHP Champion award from the Northeast Clean Heat and Power Initiative for his long-standing work in CHP. He has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Carlos Pabon

Denise Brinley

Denise Brinley serves as the Executive Director of Governor Wolf's Office of Energy, a newly formed office in Pennsylvania. Ms. Brinley will coordinate energy-related matters among state agencies and serve as the first point of contact for federal agencies, businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations in the energy sector. In this role, she will convene and guide the Commonwealth Energy Collaborative - a multi-disciplinary, agency-focused effort to align numerous energy efforts and develop long term energy strategies for Pennsylvania. Prior to this role, Ms. Brinley was a Senior Energy Advisor at DCED - focusing on Pennsylvania's energy advantages by working with economic and workforce development partners to retain and grow our energy industry and by marketing and attracting potential investors to the commonwealth. Her work involved expanding the use and delivery of natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. She also cultivated a strong business climate for alternative energy deployment; supported the growth of in-state development, manufacturing and assembly of advanced energy technologies; and worked with other state agencies to ensure sound energy-related infrastructure. Most recently, Denise served as vice president and principal environmental consultant in TRC Corporation's Harrisburg office, focusing primarily on the natural gas development, wetland mitigation banking, and brownfield redevelopment. Prior to joining TRC, Brinley served as director of the Bureau of Environmental Cleanup and Brownfields at the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), where she oversaw the commonwealth's comprehensive environmental cleanup programs, including the redevelopment of brownfield sites. Ms. Brinley also served as DEP's Special Deputy Secretary of the Office of Community Revitalization and Local Government Support, where she forged partnerships with economic and industrial development associations, local governments, private developers, and the

Gearoid Foley

Gearoid Foley has worked for the past three decades in the construction, HVAC and onsite power industries. He is an active energy industry participant and is a member of ASHRAE and the Association of Energy Engineers. He is a board member and past president of the NJ AEE, is a voting member of ASHRAE's Cogeneration Committee, has served as peer reviewer for DOE's Distributed Energy program and is technical advisor for the NJ CHP/DG Coalition. Mr. Foley has collaborated with state agencies throughout the Mid-Atlantic region including the NJ BPU, NJ EDA, PA PUC, PA DCED, MD MEA and DE DNREC and has provided testimony and program development support for energy efficiency, combined heat & power and resilience programs. His experience includes new technology demonstration, applications engineering, project management and policy development relating to on-site power generation, thermal technologies, microgrids and energy resiliency. Mr. Foley founded Integrated CHP Systems Corp. in 2003 which provides consulting services to the on-site energy industry. Clients served by ICHPS include RWJBarnabas Health, Cooper UH, Mack-Cali RE, Johnson Controls, BEA Systems, WGL Energy, Veolia, Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, Penn State University, Princeton University and the Electric Power Research Institute. For the past nine years he has served as the New Jersey Director and a Senior Technical Advisor for DOE's CHP Technical Assistance Partnership. Mr. Foley coauthored ASHRAE's 2008 Handbook Chapter on CHP Systems as well as a book entitled ‘Sustainable On-Site CHP Systems' published by McGraw Hill and was subsequently engaged by ASHRAE to coauthor the current Combined Heat and Power Design Guide published in 2015. Mr. Foley assisted in the development of ASERTTI's test protocol for CHP systems, is a two-time recipient of the CHP Champions award from the national CHP Association and has presented papers and given seminars at national and regional conferences for multiple organizations.

Katie Cullen

She played a key role in the enactment of the investment tax credit for CHP, as well as its recent modification and extension. Paul Miles

Paul is a seasoned demand side management professional with over 30 years of experience. For 10 years he supported development and implementation of many high profile projects related to energy efficiency and environmental stewardship in the private sector (corporate energy management role for Nestlé USA from 1990 - 97). The remainder of his career has been spent in the electric and natural gas utility space. Since 2000 Paul has managed a Team of professionals with an emphasis on customer satisfaction and management, providing support to Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers related to energy efficiency (EE), demand response (DR) and PECO's compressed natural gas vehicle programs. He has represented PECO in public forums (local media, Chamber of Commerce, and many environmental advocacy/civic groups) to discuss PECO programs and initiatives. He also played a key role in the development of PECO's Act 129 Energy Efficiency & Conservation plan in 2009 leading to the successful reduction of over 1.2 Billion kWh. Paul managed the DR component to reduce system load by 4.5% (355 MW) over the peak (top) 100 hours of system load in 2012 (actual verified performance was 399 MW). Today Paul provides oversight for PECO's energy usage data tool, a web-based customer information and data portal designed to automatically export electric and gas usage to the EPA Portfolio Manager benchmarking platform, (primarily in support of commercial building benchmarking). He is responsible for PECO's Combined Heat & Power (CHP) incentive and outreach program. Paul is a past member of PECO's Microgrid strategy Team as well as the Exelon Utilities lead representative for EE&DR at EPRI and is the current Vice Chairman of the Peak Load Management Alliance (PLMA). Paul is a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served in several capacities ranging from air base ground defense to missile systems maintenance. He earned a B.S. degree in Engineering Technology from California Polytechnic University, Pomona CA and his M.B.A degree from Westchester University, Westchester PA. He is a Leadership Philadelphia Fellow since June 2015.

Richard Sweetser

Mr. Sweetser founded EXERGY Partners Corporation in January 1998 as a consulting firm designed to capitalize on opportunities arising out of utility restructuring and climate change in the energy and construction industry. EXERGY Partners has developed an extensive commercial, institutional and industrial network focusing on the integration of onsite power generation, energy recovery and thermal energy management. EXERGY Partners has provided strategic support for the Federal initiative on combined heat and power (CHP), EPA's Combined Heat and Power Partnership and the U.S. Department of State's Asia Pacific Partnership. Mr. Sweetser is a Senior Advisor to the U.S. DOE's CHP Deployment Program and the U.S. DOE's Mid-Atlantic CHP Technology Assistance Partnership. Mr. Sweetser has published numerous technical, and policy articles, technical manuals, a book titled "The Fundamentals of Gas Cooling" and was the lead author on ASHRAE's new CHP Design Guide.

Rob has briefed the President of the United States and members of his Cabinet, Senate and House members and staff, senior leadership at US DOE, US EPA, US Dept of Commerce, as well as the Ministries of Energy & Environment in South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and countless state and local government agencies. During 31years in the district energy industry, Mr. Thornton has launched and expanded new district energy systems in three different U.S. cities and supported deployment in dozens more. He represents the US on the Executive Committee of the International Energy Agency District Energy Implementing Agreement, the IEA CHP Collaborative, is a founding member of the Microgrid Resources Coalition and is a co-chair of the United Nations Environment District Energy in Cities Initiative. Also, he has an MBA from La Salle University. Before coming to PGW Sherif worked in New York City for JT&T Air Conditioning Corp. He managed multi-million dollar HVAC and mechanical projects. Some of the large projects in New York were Rockefeller Center, Metropolitan Hospital and Public Sanitations Garages. Internationally, Sherif worked for J.A.M. Electro Mechanical Division in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He successfully designed and supervised the construction of mechanical projects for large commercial and industrial applications.
