Nick Spillane

Nick has handled cases before all levels of the Courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and has also handled cases in arbitration (both institutional and ad hoc) and mediation. Nick is a certified mediator. Nick has a hi-tech bent and is highly computer-capable. He is a OneNote and Excel enthusiast for case administration, including for document-management. He also has a great interest in blockchain and has qualified for the IBM Blockchain Essentials Badge and the IBM Blockchain Foundation Developer Badge. In his spare time, Nick works on and trails his Jeep Wrangler, often on fly-fishing trips into the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York.

Victor DeMarco

Victor has many years of practice experience as a maritime lawyer, encompassing all areas of maritime law including collisions and groundings, damage to fixed objects, salvage, marine pollution, personal injury and death claims arising from marine casualties, charterparty disputes, cargo claims and a wide variety of marine insurance matters. Victor has appeared numerous times before the Canadian Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal, as well as the Quebec Court of Appeal, the Superior Court of Quebec and the Cour de Quebec. Over the course of his career Victor has represented shipowners and charterers, P & I Clubs and other marine insurance mutuals, stevedores and terminal operators, ship suppliers, hull underwriters, and companies in Canada and internationally. Victor has been been described as a "celebrated litigator" in a leading publication. DeMarco Spillane s.e.n.c. was formed in July of 2018 by founding partners Victor DeMarco and Nick Spillane.
