The San Antonio German Club was formed in 1880 by a group of single young men. First known as the Ascension Club, the name was changed in 1890 to the San Antonio German Club following the popularity of a ballroom dance of the era, called "the German." Since the time of its inception, with the exception of those years interrupted by war, the San Antonio German Club had presented its debutantes during San Antonio's Social Season... This year's Opening German will be held at La Villita on Saturday, November 4th. The Debutante Presentation will begin promptly at 8 pm with a fabulous party to follow. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
