Dr Brett Locker

Dr Brett Locker was born and grew up in Newcastle. After graduating from Medicine at the University of Sydney, he later returned to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynaecology specialist training. Dr Locker has worked in Darwin and Port Macquarie. Wanting to broaden his gynaecological practice, he returned once again to his home town in 2005 as a specialist gynaecologist at John Hunter Hospital and was the Director of Gynaecology for 15 years. Dr Locker also runs a dynamic private practice, experienced in all areas of gynaecology, and specialises in bladder and prolapse issues (urogynaecology). He also has a keen interest in menopausal medicine, abnormal uterine bleeding, abnormal PAP smears, together with contraception and fertility issues. Surgical operations are performed at Lingard Private Hospital in Merewether, where Dr Locker is also the chair of the Medical Advisory Committee. Dr Locker offers much needed specialist services in developing countries such as Kenya, Cameroon and most recently Bangladesh. He enjoys a busy family life with 5 daughters, church involvement and is a regular at his local parkrun. He continues to enjoy his chosen speciality where he has been able to help thousands of women through difficult issues with sensitivity and updated skills, developed over decades of experience. Dr Locker and his team at Hunter Gynaecology strive to achieve the best possible care and outcomes for women attending the practice.

Dr Gracia Chong

Dr Gracia Chong is a specialist Gynaecologist and Advanced Endoscopic Surgeon. Dr Chong completed her medical and speciality training in Ireland (Trinity College Dublin), and in the Hunter Region. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and NZ College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with over 15 years of experience in healthcare for women. She believes in providing care that is tailored to each woman's needs, and offers both consultation and advanced surgery, including minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery. Dr Chong is an advanced endometriosis excision specialist and sonologist, and has a special interest in pelvic pain and ovarian cysts. She is also an accredited colposcopist with the C-QuIP programme to manage any pap smear abnormalities. She has a Masters in Clinical Medicine with the University of Newcastle and maintains a passion for teaching in her role as a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of Newcastle.
